Help  !!

I don't know if a post like this is acceptable or legal. I have multiple myloma,which is a disease that comes and goes. At he moment it has come in a big way, affecting my mobility and causing horrible pain.I could manage that, but I also have a husband(gentle and thoughtful) who has advanced Alzheimer's disease. The dilemma is that I can look after myself or him, but not both.Is there anyone who could spare half an hour every now and again, to walk with him to Sainsburies or Morrisons, just so that he can get out of the house occasionally. I am not offering 'employment', but would obviously donate something to the person, or a charity of their choice.Can I do such a thing? I need help now, not two months down the line when Social Services have done their assessments. We live in Derwentwater Road. Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received as I am a bit end of tether-ish.

How kind everyone is ! Thank you all so much for the varied responses - which I will follow up next week.For those really nice people who offered exactly what I wanted, it seems that even advanced Alzheimer's sufferers still want a measure of control ~(which is a Very good Thing)and do not want to go out or go shopping with anyone, despite thinking it a good idea at first. If I may I'll contact you if things change, as I still think it would be a good idea, and actually give more freedom etc.Thank you all once again, its very cheering to know that there are kind people out there willing to help.

Glenda - it would be worth contacting ECIL which is a mine of information about services available - they are on ecil.org. They are always helpful and you wouldn't have to wait two months! I also had great help from a charity called Crossroads, which is on 02087287000 - I'm not sure if they still offer the same services that they did when I needed them but it could be worth a try.

The Churchfield Community Association has a group called GANG (my acronym) Good Acton Neighbours Group which does offer support to members...often running non-drivers to hospital etc... walking the dog...a bit of shopping.I don't know if anyone is running it since I left the executive but it might be worth joining and asking.
