Churchfield Road area should be re named Churchfield  Village

This would improve the image of Acton , and promote the brilliant independent shops and bars. We should support this lovely area in Acton!

It is due to the Church, my Great Grandparents are at rest in Churchfield Road Cemetary which is a pretty place in my opinion and it would be nice if included in the development in a positive way and not left in the shadow of large buildings, a few famous people were born in Churchfield Road and think it would be nice to leave as it is.

Never knew that, but I used to drink in The Talbot,The Six Bells or The George and Dragon when I lived in Acton. I know the old William IV, called the Sheep (something) now was known as Skeggs' after a landlord and local character from 19th century.

Lucy I am sorry for you observing the act that you did this location has a long record of drinking etc,a public house was on the site called the Gravediggers,now an estate agent.There are a few locations in Acton that have undesirable persons this one of them,in time you will find the rest!

I must also add that on my way back from Pilates I walked down Churchfield road and witnessed someone emptying their bladder by the 'park/graveyard/bit where people during their cider. Not really something I would associate with a village?

There is an attempt presently in place to change the name of the South Acton Estate to Acton Gardens yet there visn't a single garden in the whole place.

The Churchfield Road area already has its own poncey estate agents' brand: Poets Corner. If the area includes the rundown HMOs and bedsits in the roads running down to the High Street, it would hardly qualify as a bucolic urban idyll.And it's only a stone's throw from that quintessential feature of English village life - an enormous mosque. (Too bad for any Churchfield Village adulterers).

I still don't agree with your proposal,Acton is being changed by schemes like this to a point where it is unrecognisable asthe Acton everybody knows and loves.Take the on going saga of the Oaks?As I said before  leave well alone.And well said Lucy.

This is hilarious. I've moved here from a village called Penn in Bucks. Now Penn is a village. There is a village green, a village pond, village hall, village fete etc. What on earth does Churchfield road have to justify making it a village? Yes there are nice shops, but it's just a road. I think it's incredibly pompous to suggest such an idea when it really would be lie to call it a village. I think Wimbledon village can almost be justified as it has the hugh common and there really is a vilalge feel. When i walk down Churchfield Road it just fees like a road which is rough on one end and nice on the other.

Who ever heard of a Village within a Town,the name Churchfield road is probably due to St Marys Church being at the western end of Churchfield road,Acton has long and proud history and Churchfield road is part of that history,leave well alone.

At the end of the delay local estate agents will decide on this issue.  If it helps regeneration and results in physical improvement of buildings and thus drives out those seeking to disrupt society it can only be a good thing.

I'm a trader on Churchfield Road and I think it's a great idea.  You could get caught up in the semantics of it but at the end of the day, if you actually live or work around the immediate area, it is only natural to want it to prosper.

Londoners always make me laugh when they say 'Oh it's like a village around here'...when they have probably only driven through a few and have no idea what it's like to live in one. Calling it a village will never make it one and anyone who pays a premium on a house because the area is called a village is a numpty and deserves to be ripped off. Acton,or anywhere else in London is not a village and will never be one. An'urban village' is an contradiction in terms.
