Rough Sleeper- Alfred Road

Hi All,I've noticed that there is a rough sleeper at the Acton High Street end of Alfred Road. He sleeps facing the road in the old Gala Bingo side doorway right by the pavement. i've seen him in the mornings and evenings when I come back from work. Is there any charity I can call who would help?

I am pleased it was sorted.  I am not sure how a "Sleeper At Home" would work either.  Many of them have very sad life tales and certainly need all the help and support we as a community can give.  Maybe we should do more to support the  people and charities  who actually help the rough sleepers on our streets as they certainly seem to be on the increase. Anyone who has volunteered at a soup kitchen will see that many of these homeless people just need a basic start in life.

Thanks so much for your advice. SorryI didn't update sooner however, I actually got in touch with shelter the other day and they said they would contact the relevant authority. I contacted them on Tuesday and he was gone yesterday. Hopefully they have got him somewhere safe. Not too sure how well a sleeper at home initiative would work! The circumstances for rough sleepers sometimes can be very complex. It's great that there's places I can contact who will come and hopefully give him some help :)

There are already quite a few initiatives to help rough sleepers but they do tend to have complex needs which would make A Sleepers at home scheme very difficult to do successfully.Refugees on the other hand are relatively straight-forward, apart from language and PTSD, as the pressures are mostly external and problems which can often be solved.But if you want to try, am happy to share pro-form as

I have seen people from St Mungos help rough sleepers in Acton park.

St Mary's is part of the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter scheme, but it only runs for a few weeks in January and February. St Mungos has been working with rough sleepers in Ealing recently.

The local ward police and Emmaeus Keep an eye out and try to help those who want it. Local churches have night shelters - I'm Nearly sure St Mary's is part of that. But they do tend to stop when the weather gets (Theoretically) warmer.

Maybe contact Streetlink (www.streetlink.org.uk) or call 0300 500 0914. It exists to enable the public to alert local authorities in England and Wales about people sleeping rough in their area.
