Morrison

Over the years I have not been short of complaints about our local Morrison supermarket.I have been shopping elsewhere rather than get worked up by empty shelves and a dirty shop. This morning I was in a hurry so I popped in for a couple of things and was impressed with an overall improvement, It was better stocked and the isles were not cluttered with baskets of stuff on promotion which previously cause congestion and irritation. Everything I came in for was there, a first, even though I took the last of the packs of Lavazza coffee.I mentioned my impressions to the cashier who was very happy as they have a new manager who is apparently trying to knock the shop into shape. Next is a deep clean and possibly a refurb.If you had also given up on Morrison, give it another chance. I foo one am thrilled to be able to shop locally.

I have started buying bread from the Polish Shop opposite Morrison's and they have lovely cakes as well.

Try Laveli on Churchfield Road. Absolutely lovely sourdough and other niche breads. Also buy a lemon tart, they're to die for!

Asked why there is only one day life on fresh bread and was told, "we are a supermarket, not a corner shop". Moral, buy from the corner shop.

Prices and range of UK products are excellent - especially fruit and veg. Thanks to Morrisons I enjoy each of the  English apples in season from August to October - scrummy!

The reason the car park is always full on fridays is because people park there and then go straight to the mosque. Maybe Morrisons should have a word with the local imam.

The car park on Fridays is a nightmare too.  Really need to sort this out.  The problem is that it is being used for general parking for people going elsewhere and not using Morrisons.  I see people park their cars and go straight out the entrance elsewhere.

Hey Hi Paul - While you're going through your database, can we get some reasonably priced quinoa on the shelves? it's become a staple in many a kitchen and I end up trekking to Sainsbury's for it. The health food shops jack up the price no end.

Hi, thanks for your message, I do agree still lot's for us to work on. I have just checked and unfortunately we no longer stock the spelt Polish loaves, we do however have 6 other varieties of Polish bread. I am going to contact the product ranging team at head office to see if we can stock the product again. There are some works planned but no extensions at this time:(

I've also been told the vacant area at the front belongs to Morrisons ... And there was some talk of you extending into it last time I talked to the regional manager. I recently asked where the spelt polish loaves you used to have are. I was told 'we did order 5 loaves last Friday.' Not good enough. I am pleased that your fizzy wine section has improved somewhat and the whole Morrisons experience in Acton seems to have improved .... But lots more to do and achieve and I still go to Sainsburys Chiswick when I can be bothered

Couple of things: both the range of beers and the fresh bread selection seem to have got less extensive recently. Both used to be very good but now they're just about OK (though the bread is better than most other supermarkets).The biggest issue, though, is the weird layout. Right from the start, with the big lobby, then the muddled fruit and veg, it's so much less inviting than many other supermarkets. Sainsbury's, for example, has three clearly-laid out greengrocery aisles where Morrisons has a jumbled layout that means you're never sure where to look. Has anyone ever considered extending the store into the café and using the space to make the store a bit less cramped?

Paul, good that you're on here paying attention. The baskets of 'specials' in the aisles was a bugbear, not to mention an OH&S nightmare waiting to happen. The issue is that, basically, Morrisons Acton is too small. A deep clean and refurb would be most welcome. The new self-service checkouts are a massive improvement on the old ones. I worry, however, that there's not much enticement for Morrisons Acton to improve, because it's a rather captive market - there are no other big supermarkets in Acton. The fact that sometimes I'd rather hop on the tube to go to Sainsbury's Chiswick than run the gauntlet at the overcrowded Morrisons should say a lot to you. A bigger, brighter Morrisons would be most welcome.

Hi Tony, we have recently had a problem with the quality and maintenance of our bedding plants. Over the last few day's we have cleared all of the poor quality plants from display and received a fresh new supply, also we now have a new colleague Rani looking after the plants and flowers , she has made a real difference in maintaining their freshness and quality. It would be great if you come and find me next time you are in the store. Thanks

I was not very impressed with the selection of bedding plants today. Most in the lower boxes all seem to have died. What a waste of money.

Complained about sulky short-changing on the fish counter last week and was surprised, and quite impressed, to be sent a £10 voucher yesterday. It's not the money, it's being taken seriously and valued- quickly.

Pat on the back for the new fella - James?- who you'll spot if you think you're seeing Eddie Redmayne in the store. Just as nice too, though I only have Eddie's sofa turns on Graham Norton to go by,Went in get a parking penalty cancelled (he says this can happen only once) and we ended up chatting about improvements made and more to come, including the chain's move to donate all surplus stock to charity.  Once inside, the experience is so much better now. Hope thats a harbinger of things to come for the Mount...
