Wood burner Vs Log fire

We've been living with a fire place shaped hole in our wall for two years dithering between a wood burner and a fire place. With the, hopefully hot, summer almost  upon us , the timing is perfect to  make a decision and instal our fire place. What are your experiences of either solution in terms of comfort and heat output and general maintenance. Any recommendation on installers would be welcome.

Make sure your fitter is Gas Safe registered. Carbon Monoxide is a killer.........

Be sure to check if you are a smokeless zone - if so you will need to ensure you only burn smokeless fuel

I would recommend a wood burner. They cost more than a fireplace but are cleaner and give out more heat. They can also be left if you pop out. I got mine from Chesneys but there are loads of makers and styles. I had mine fitted by a guy called Mark Killick who also comes to sweep it. He advised on the flue and the other bits needed which saved money vs Chesneys. His number is 07914 041813.
