New Ealing Mayor's charity

Pleased to read in the announcement of the new Ealing mayor (see front page) that the mayor's charity is Acton Homeless Concern.  They could use the support and publicity.

These organisations are very important as it can be very easyto fall into a downward spiral as events conspire against you.Another charity helping the homeless and disadvantaged is The Upper Room in Shepherds Bush.  This has been shortlisted for a grant from Jewsons to create an extra floor within the building to give them more space.Please vote for their project here and share with your friends:https://www.buildingbettercommunities.co.uk/submission/the-upper-room/These places are a very valuable resource.

At one time there was an initiative to build homes for life in that they would still be accessible in later life.  This seems to have disappeared which is a great shame.

If she is so concerned with the homeless, she should do something about the social cleansing of the South Acton Estate, making many people homeless, by a labour council in a labour ward.  This includes the demolition of some 70 sheltered dwellings, with no plans to replace these sheltered dwellings in Acton, their community being split up. Two weeks ago these many elderly and vulnerable people who had lived on the estate for some twenty plus years had no idea where and if they would be rehoused.
