CCA presents - Europe - In or Out? A debate on 14 June

The Churchfield Community Association (CCA) http://www.churchfield.org/is organising a debate on Europe on Tuesday 14 June at 7.30pm at St Mary's church, 1 High Street, Acton W3 9NW. The speakers are:Remain: Kate Hudson, Gen Sec CND (personal capacity), Stephen Greenhalgh (Former Conservative Leader of Hammersmith Council, and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime in London Leave: Paul Emery Asst Director of London Fire BrigadeRobert Oulds Director of the Bruges Group think tankIt should be a lively and interesting debate. Please come along with your questions. You do not have to be a CCA member to attend.

Audience of 50-60, interesting well informed speakers, lively debate unfortunately dominated by Brexiteers although I did my best to have a balanced debate.

I will be chairing the debate and will be strictly impartial. I can't speak for the Twitter account as I don't often use Twitter but will investigate

I can only hope that the CCA runs the debate in a less biased manner than it is operating its Twitter account (https://twitter.com/CCAssoc1?lang=en-gb). This contains numerous retweets of pro Remain tweets and, of course, no mention of any Leave arguments or activities.Resident and community associations usually jealously guard their political neutrality. As Chair of the CCA, could you explain to this CCA member (and the others who read this forum) why you have permitted the Twitter account to be used in such a nakedly partisan manner?

I heard Robert Oulds at a similar event in W4 last month. He's a scary character.  I hope the Remain speakers are well prepared. Mr Oulds frequently scolded Hilary Benn (shadow Foreign Secretary), saying "you should do your homework".  Wonderfully patronising.

Change of speaker - Stephen Greenhalgh can no longer make it. He is replaced on the Remain side by the national chief of Conservatives IN, Mark Holdsworth. Paul Embury is from the FBU and is on the Leave side.
