remember, the EU is a club of democratic nations, with each country protecting its own national interest. The idea that nations will willingly cede their sovereignty(and indeed local politicians give up their power) is wide of the mark. There are an increasing number of issues, and growing daily, that require transnational co-operation such as fisheries, agriculture and food security, climate change and energy, crime and terrorism, migration and so on. The EU provides the right framework for this co-operation. The EU is like any other club or say management committee, not everyone will agree with its decisions, but walking out and throwing our toys out of the pram just isn't a mature response. I'm proud to be British but this doesn't mean that I view Europe/EU as some some sinister anti democratic conspiracy, I want us to be involved arguing our case with our friends.
