Real Nappies

We've missed Real Nappy Week this year but I wondered if anybody is using these and would comment. The options have changed a lot since I had mine and I certainly can't give any advice on them other than there are many more options on the market since the days of terry nappies!  It doesn't have to be a choice between one and the other.http://westlondonwaste.gov.uk/real-nappy-week-2016/

Thank you again.  I've had a look and we all as a family need to research a bit more. I know that some Councils subsidise trial packs.  The West London Waste Authority I have seen were holding Nappucino meetings but I have never been to one and I don't know if all the boroughs which make up the WLWA are doing this.Especially good if systems are flexible and mean that a child is likely to want to move out of nappies earlier.At a time of lots of new challenges it is difficult making such a big commitment to something that may be new to everyone involved.It is the people who have nappies in their waste - both the baby ones and adult ones who need bigger bins.  There are alternatives available for both particularly if you are computer literate enough to find them for yourself or have someone helpful and discreet enough to find them for you.

Thanks you guys that's really helpful.  I would have subsidised the initial buying of these had I realised that that might have been a sticking point.

We're using Wonderoos (other brands available!) which are really good. Definitely worth the initial investment, but not everyone can afford the upfront cost even if it does save money in the long term, unfortunately.

I used real nappies for 18 months exclusively then started using disposables when out.My sister lives in Sweden where she brought up her daughters and where reusables are the norm. This inspired me to do the same.it was perfectly easy, solids were flushed down the toilet so no smells. My son NEVER had nappy rash. Because they are not full of the liquid absorbing gels, the child feels the wet and this is important when potty training. Also more of an incentive to get out of nappies. Oh and I am not even mentioning the hundreds of £s saved.There are loads of options available now as well as second hand networks so you can size up when necessary for very reasonable costs.  I would definately chose this route again.
