Making a case for the Wheelie Bins

Every Tuesday evening the residents of the HMO across the road from us dump several black bin bags on the corner of the street for the weekly rubbish collection.  More often than not the foxes would rip the bags open and leave a disgusting mess to wake up to on Wednesday.I complained to the council several times - even sending photos - but was met with indifference.  I just gave up in the end.As for recycling - I don't think that was too high on our HMO neighbours agenda - never a green box or white bag in sight.I know this problem wasn't isolated either - unfortunately many residents don't seem to care about what impact their laziness has on the community.If everyone was as civilised and respectful as I'm sure most of the people who comment on here are the system would not need to change.If the introduction of the wheelie bins makes it easier for people to dispose of their rubbish more sensibly and encourages a bit more recycling then surely the positives out weigh the negatives.Plus those annoying white bags are useless and the green box fits about 2 days worth of recycling (for those of us that used them)

I'm sorry I should also have said well done for trying to get something done about it.  I have a slightly similar situation near me.  I know others on here have had similar problems.I do wonder why the tenants were taking their waste to the corner of the road to dump it?  That kind of gives the impression they didn't want it linked to the house.  Maybe there is something else illegal about it?I also know that there have been problems in the past when the landlords turned out to be either Councillors or Council Officers or related to them and so it was harder to get anything done.  There is strength in numbers and it can be worthwhile talking to other neighbours to see if they feel the same way as petitioning together can get something done.

Is that HMO across the road from you registered?  I suspect it wasn't. Why wasn't the landlord providing bins?https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201086/housing_and_council_tax/393/houses_in_multiple_occupation/2I agree it is houses (or rather tenants) like this that cause misery to neighbours.  Politics unfortunately seems to mean that Councils didn't and maybe don't take the action they should to pull these properties, landlords and tenants into line. It would also help if parents involved their children more in the running and working of a household a bit more so that they learned a bit more about being a responsible member of a community before they left home and were let loose on the rest of society.Did you contact your Councillors?  Or www.fixmystreet.com  (you can do that anonymously just make sure if you want to you do)  They can often get some action out of Council Officers when the rest of us can't.
