Sorry to start yet another wheelie thread...I am currently using the bags which have ripped and won't be fit for purpose in the near future. Do I have to pay for a garden waste wheelie even though I renewed my subscription to the garden waste collection service recently? I just spent 30 minutes trying to talk to someone at Ealing Council. When I eventually got through to a human being, all she did was say I needed to talk to garden waste and put me on the same loop which didn't have the options for what I wanted to do. Anyone have experience of getting a garden waste wheelie when already signed up to the service?

Thanks to the persistent interventions of Dan Crawford, a garden waste wheelie bin (used, but now free of fag ends and crisp packets) and three green garden waste bags were delivered this morning. Not sure if I can disclose the email address of the Ealing Council employee who Dan contacted, but happy to forward it on to anyone who needs it.

Georgina I think that like the white sack for plastics the green sacks have been discontinued and green wheelie replaces them

Mine was delivered without asking when the other bins came. !!
Not sure if this helps you but on Saturday there was an Amey truck in Spencer Road that was delivering various bins. They had a print out of about 100 (my guess) addresses to deliver to and said that they were one of 3 crews delivering bins yesterday.I did not notice if they had garden waste bins onboard.

Just to let everyone know, despite my best efforts, those of Cllr Daniel Crawford and a confirmed order number from Ealing Council over two weeks ago, we still have no wheelie bin for our garden waste. With our bags now ineffective (they are ripped and spill garden waste everywhere) we will soon be paying for a service which we can't use. Anyone else had any luck with ordering their garden waste wheelie?

Phillipa,my remarks re Council and Communications or lack thereof would be correct.John.

No consultation. Tunnel vision. Executive decision. The Council needs to engage more with its residents if it wants to be more successful.

I believe part of the problem is that no one at Ealing council had the foresight to realise that changing to wheelie bins might cause a (conservative estimate) 250% increase in calls to the council. I could have told them, but no one asked me. Another part is that the garden waste section of the website doesn't currently cater for people who want to order wheelies. There are other factors involved but probably not worth discussing.

Clare,I have ordered replacement Garden Rubbish Bags before and had them delivered,so I do not know what the problem is,I did not need to pay for them.regards,John.

ClaireI did exactly that some time ago having found for various reasons I would prefer a wheelie. They don't like the change midway through a year, from bags to wheelies or visa versa as I think it involves a different vehicle etc. Anyway I said it was because I could no longer handle the bags and they agreed the change.

To Dr John Stolworthy D.Sc: I don't think you can have tried to order garden bags or bins - unless you have been willing to pay for them, which I am not as I have paid to subscribe to the garden waste service and have heard from others that you don't need to pay if your bags are on their last legs (I know bags don't have legs, really) and you want to switch to wheelies. But thanks for the advice. To Lorna Dodd: Luck is indeed what you need if you want to ring and order garden wheelies from Ealing Council. The operative who answered my call after I had held on for 30 minutes (I don't count my first call when I got stuck in a loop for ordering food waste bins) put me straight back to the back of the queue when I asked to talk to someone about ordering said bin.To Georgiana: If I get a wheelie in time for your gardener I will be delighted to let you have my garden sacs. They are quite ripped but better than nothing. My sympathies to you about holding on. Your operative was obviously better trained/informed than mine.To Kim: Well done you - food bins appear to be a different kettle of fish (or whatever your leftovers involved).I have also tweeted Dan Crawford who asked me to email which I did. I will post any progress just in case there are people who really want a cure for insomnia or to read more about wheelie bins.
Well done Kim, but as I mentioned you CANNOT order garden waste sacks only general recycling wheelie, food waste bin and landfill rubbish wheelies as you may have noticed on the page where you ordered they were the only options.I ordered the garden sacks after being on hold for ages and complained there was no option on the website and she said she knew, that we have to call to order them.

Try E Mailing on,customerservices@ealing.gov.uk
Eventually spoke to a human after40 mins, ordered - lets see if they come within the stipulated 5 working days.
Clare I am trying to order new garden sacks as I write as mine are ripped and falling apart.Council website provides NO option to order on line (they used to. They give a number which has a recorded message going on and on and on about the new wheelie bin collection despite my selecting option for ordering garden waste bags, I select the option to order replacement bags and it then only lets me order refuse/recycling wheelie bins NOT garden bags.I have a gardener coming next week and NO useable sacks!!And I PAY extra for this "service" been on hold now for 30 minutes!
Once you're subscribed, you should be able to choose bags or the green wheelie. (We have the wheelie which is badly cracked - by them, not us - and stuck together with duck tape!) This is what they say on the website:'If you are subscribed to the garden waste service, you can request a replacement bin or sacks if they are damaged or lost. To do this, call customer services on 020 8825 6000 (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm).'Good luck with that!
