BT domestic fibre to the cabinet "Infinity"

I find that getting information from BT is like trying to get blood out of stone. Can anyone connected to the Acton exchange with domestic FTTC please tell me whether they are connected with IPv6, and if so is it a fixed IP address? I understand that the BT Home Hub just does an auto re-boot, and then, with luck, it happens. I am considering moving to BT FTTC if I can get a fixed IP address, and I see no reason why IPv6 would not provide that as standard, that is what it is designed to do. Thanks for any information.

Thanks, not sure whether the HomeHub4 can be updated, but I would be a new customer, using my own ADSL modem at present. Looking at the modem logs, it is blocking unwanted junk about every 10 minutes, so I hope that BT hub security works, without any well-known admin passwords.

Mine is currently IPv4 only.BT slowly rolling out IPv6 to HomeHub5 customers this year - with plan to have all on IPv6 (and IPv4) by end of 2016 (according to their announcement in Sep 2015). HomeHub4 customers might get IPv6 but not confirmed.

The world ran out of IPv4 internet addresses several years ago, prompting a number of bodge systems. IPv6 has been around for a few years, and is designed to replace IPv4 and provide every user with the ability to use modern high tech facilities, the "Internet of Things". Even the default operating system for the Raspberry Pi credit card micromputer that kids are using in school will work with IPv6. Note: If you have IPv4 the IP address will be of the form w.x.y.z where each character is an ordinary number between 0 and 255, while an IPv6 address can have up to 8 hexadecimal (0-9 and a-f) numbers, each with up to 4 characters, with colon (:) separators.
