FLYTIPPING

Acton Central Safer Neighbourhoods Team have recognised there is an increasing issue in the area with flytipping. Please could you e mail the team with any flytipping close to your home and any registration numbers seen etc. Our e mail address is ActonCentral.snt@met.police.uk. Some cities have found that a zero tolerance approach to fly-tipping, anti-social behaviour, street drinking etc all helps to cut crime in an area - which might make street cleanliness a core part of the police remit if fly-tipping leads to other unacceptable behaviour and thus to crime.I welcome the pro-active approach from our local police - makes a nice change from the council at any rate.

Thanks Sarah.  Whilst the Police intervention is very welcome on this, I'm concerned that much needed Police resources could be employed elsewhere (catch the drug-dealers please!)  I'm grateful, of course, just concerned that Ealing Council have disengaged with active Streetwatchers who are keen to report these matters to them directly.  Alongside the issue with wheelie bins and general Council incompetence on this matter in particular, we are now using Police time to sort it!  Where are our Council Envirocrime Officers for the area?  Julian Bell!!  What have you done?!  (Or not done?!)  Shame on you.

Hurrah!Dave said on twitter that you might start to do something about the huge fly-tipping problem in Acton Central at the moment.My pet bugbear - bottom of Goldsmith Road -has been clear since Thursday evening - I can scarcely believe it!
