Syrian refugees , Sara Nathan Look at Germany

As usual the labour luvvies called me racist when I did not want to add to the mass immigration which has totally transformed Acton. Look at the women attacked ,bombs, shootings , machete attacks in Germany alone , that's without talking about The atrocities in France , Belgium , Sweden , Austria , Holland etc My parents are immigrants and I am certainly not racist , but mass immigration on an unprecedented amount is unsustainable,proven by the last five days in Germany !

Angela is right why can't we talk about immigration  without Gary Sinclair pathetically calling me NF (I thought they disbanded in the 80s ) and unitelligent Tony Mansell calling me ignorant ! Is anyone in Acton happy about the complete transformation of South Acton estate , and surely unlimited mass immigration supported by Mr Corbyn , Gary Sinclair and Thick Mansell , should be a topic of debate not a yawn yawn racist accusations !

I totally agree with Tony, DB is a stirrer and may well have racist motivations. Angela it's no good defending his right to say what he likes without knowing the context of his postings. He has unequivocally said in the recent past that the vast majority of social housing allocations go to immigrants in the borough and bragged he had the proof to back up his claim and his own daughter was having to stay in temporary accommodation and was denied a permanent home. Sounds all to reminiscent of what the NF argues. I've looked at the Councils  housing committee report on allocations btw and DBs assertion is 100% inaccurate as I knew it would be. His constant reference to "left wing luvvies" "guardian readers" and "reds" really sounds like the rantings  of a man who has sympathies with extreme right. He throws into the mix that if you question his assertions you are calling him a racist and how that is so boringly PC. He sows confusion and discord because in that environment racism as we've seen can thrive. So by all means having a discussion about immigration isn't racist but the motives of this individual are suspect. Expect a Trumpesc rant/abuse name calling from him next in response.

Yes indeed Angela. The word 'racist' is often bandied about by those who have already made up their mind about someone's reasoning and who want to 'shame' that person in their own snide way.Quite often the point is missed in these discussions..in my opinion race is not a problem but culture (ie: how one lives one's life, how one allows others to be themselves..in short how one behaves day to day in the society of others) can be a major concern. Multi-culturalism? Diversity? All well and good but if diversity becomes disparity through too few common values and expectations, what glue holds society together?

You clearly angered by this, but reading his post again, I cannot see he's narrowed it down to one person.  Perhaps take a step back. He may be racist, who knows, but from his posting, I cannot see it.  You may find yourself the recipient of my attempt to let others be heard one day, so I don't see that I'm "sticking up" for him but rather his right to have a say.  I certainly haven't found his posting "repellent".  You may have read postings elsewhere which I haven't, I don't know.  I think Dennis wishes to talk about immigration.  If we could do that, without generalisations (yours included) and anger, or name-calling, we might just get somewhere!

He's lumping whole nations into the fact one person killed a number of people in Munich. Free speech is not inciting hatred or generalising about whole nations or saying you see what happens when you let them in. THAT is racism pure and simple. If you want to stick up for this ghastly person that's your choice. Its also mine for calling him what he is. He's a repellant, hateful and worst of all ignorant person and hes on here every day laughing and pointing and using dead people to justify his little englander views. I maintain Acton W3 is not for that, IMHO.

Tony, the noun racist - I am certainly not sure where you derived Dennis is speaking this way?  A lot of projection is going on in this thread, in my opinion.  Perhaps I haven't read previous threads, but on this thread alone I cannot see the problem.

I don't think you can pick and choose on "moral" grounds.  It's either a local forum, which strictly sticks to local issues (perhaps immigration is a local issue - Dennis is saying immigration has transformed Acton, that's his opening statement, so perhaps this is a local issue) or it allows all kinds of discussion.  There are no exceptions to that, surely.  Free speech.  Why can't this man talk about immigration?  It might be true to say the tone is direct or less palatable sometimes, but that's not the issue here.

Sara Nathan a regular Acton forum contributor asked for Acton people to take in Syrian refugees. This was a very popular debate ! So Tony this request to bring even more immigrants to Acton was the reason for my latest post . I think asking residents in Acton to take in even more immigrants makes it a local issue !

On another note, a question (not to the delightful DB)- I did think this site was for local issues, not for  political rhetoric and  a forum s for poison tongued soapbox bawlers? If m wrong - fine but clarification is needed I feel

Good point, Bob.I don't think it's helpful to call each other names, especially given the state of the world these days.  Let's respect each other if we can and discuss with respect.  Name calling is shaming and prohibitive which only drives people underground with their views, or further left or right - it doesn't change them.  I'm worried about Putin, Trump, Isis, you name it.  We must all behave with respect towards each other (I'm no saint, btw).

What you have to bare in mind is that this influx of immigrants are not dispersed equally through-out the nation but more often than not dumped into certain areas, thus distabalising the local community and draining resources such as schools and doctors surgeries. This has certainly been the case in South Acton.

Annual net migration before 1997 was averaging close to zero, so 333,000 a year is certainly unprecedented. Whether that's sustainable rather depends on one's definition of the term.
