From David Hennings:"Cllr Tailor asked me to reply directly.Hub Residential are being allowed to use the space until we are ready to start construction of station square.  Sites that are empty are often subject to commercial squatting or flytipping and both have happened on sites in North Acton.  If either happened the cost of regaining the site could be very expensive, especially if its flytipped with contaminated waste.  The council could secure the site using a commercial security company but this would be very expensive and still might not prevent the problem.  Therefore allowing HUB to use the site is cost free way to reduce the chances of this happening.  At the time Cllr Bell replied to people he was unaware we had done this ( due to an oversight on my part) and therefore answered the question as he understood the position of the site.Station Square is funded through the contributions that  various developers including Hub Residential have been required to pay to meet the cost of improving public space in the area. The current status of the project is that the council is  in negotiation with TFL and Holiday inn about the consents we need from both to allow the construction of the new square.  We need some land from TFL and because we are excavating down several metres we have to satisfy Holiday Inn that we will not affect their site.  Once these agreements are in place we are ready to start construction and we have already  removed over 500 square metres of soil from the site to help prepare for that.I hope this clarifies the position"It doesn't for me. It only raises more questions.
