Street Cleaning Schedule

In response to my serial enquiries, I have at last had a phone call from a senior official at Ealing Council who has confirmed that the revised, post-wheelie, cost-saving schedule is to clean streets once every 3 weeks.

I notice that if you go to report a litter problem on the council website it still tells you that streets are cleaned weekly!

I just saw the bin men along Churchfield Road, they collected rubbish from outside Vindanista - junction of Spencer Road - but then they ignored a very visible white rubbish sack on the other corner of the same junction on the same side of the road, I just don't get it, what is going on!

Now we know the street cleaning has been reduced, at least we can't blame the increased mess on the wheelie bins per se. I assume they reckoned that there'll be less post rubbish collection mess with the wheelie bins than there was with the bin bags and open topped recycling bags and boxes, but it does seem short sighted to cut the street cleaning before the new collection scheme has anywhere near settled down. They need to send Philippa round with a clip board and tin helmet to explain to people how things should be done!

I think the main problem is that they had no idea so many buildings had been divided into flats.  I wonder if there was any planning permission and if there is fire separation and sound insulation between dwellings.  Although I know that the problem building near me had permission they still weren't issued with bins.  I presume that they have absent landlords so nobody discussed the number or size of the bins... and there certainly hasn't been enough information for all the flat dwellers.It would have been good to have had discussions beforehand and to have seen some best solutions.  That is all people sometimes need!

That explains, thank you, I actually had to clean outside my place last week as the foxes opened the bags and it was awful. I also complain almost daily, let's keep up the pressure. They have not found a solution for the flats in Chaucer Road, there are piles of rubbish against the trees all the time. The street is really filthy.

No wonder W3 has turned into a pigsty if they're only cleaning the streets once every three weeks! I do wonder how long this will last - particularly when Autumn comes and the leaves fall, blocking the drainage and creating a delightfully slippery hazard for pedestrians.

What all the streets?Churchfield Road and Goldsmith Road - as having very heavy traffic -used to get done daily, the rest of us weekly.Every three weeks just won't do ... Explains a lot.

Hmm  And are they doing the whole street or just part of it eg one side?  All the gutters need sweeping and that means sweeping around all the parked cars.
