Enviro crime officers.

Still no answer from Ealing Council on when Acton might see these self funding enviro crime officers who have been employed since the beginning of the year.However two popular local businessmen have come up with some ideas. Fed up with stepping over rubbish every day, one has collected the mobile phone numbers of people living in flats round his business and texted them to tell them to only put out their rubbish on the allocated day. He says most of them simply didn't understand the system and the street near his business has certainly got cleaner.The other is encouraging customers to call out to people they see dumping rubbish near his door. He agrees with his friend that most of the people doing the dumping think that is the way it works in Acton. When the mistake is pointed out, they take up their bag and go. So far no punch in the nose.Why didn't the Council think like of that?

Maire, I believe one of the reasons fly-tipping has increased so dramatically is because many households do not have their bins yet. We have helped 5 families in the last week who didn't have any bins including 1 in Perryn Road. We have relocated any abandoned bins to these homes. There are still several houses on Acton Lane W4 without their bins.The Council denies this is a problem. If anyone knows where there is an abandoned bin, please let me know.

The wonderful PC Loveday reports on Twitter that two Kingdom enviro crime officers were on Churchfield Road this morning. Responding to local concerns. Keep up the good work everyone. I would post a photo if I knew how.

The police say this new self-funding "envirocrime officers" only do littering really. Presumably because it requires actual work to find. locate and fine fly-tippers.The PC has seen them once or twice in Acton - which is more than any of the rest of us have done.Anyhow - seem a complete waste of time in the face of the current crisis. Unless they can make litterers sweep the streets. Oh no, of course, that wouldn't be profitable (or self-funding)

The recycling collection crew today said that they weren't the usual crew.  I'm beginning to wonder if there will ever be a usual crew.  Will we get different people each week who aren't sure where they are going and what they are doing?

Not enough info.  The collection crew also need to have various stickers with them at all times (even when they change lorries last minute) so that they can tell people why something hasn't been collected or why it won't be collected next time eg black bags of garden waste.  They also MUST have the info on who needs assisted collections with them at all times - with huge and difficult to manoeuvre bins this ought to have increased in number.  It is important that elderly and disabled neighbours are not blocked in or out of their homes by the bins and don't injure themselves struggling with them. Changing lorries last minute is no excuse.Angela mentioned that the estate agents used to issue info -  there are some different estate agents around now and letting is now also done online.  So perhaps this needs updating.
