Street Filth

Who can do anything about the disgusting state of our streets, particularly Alfred Road, it is revolting. For months now there hasn't been a road sweeper, we used to have one everyday.Looking at the gutters the amount of crushed debris that has clearly been lying there for months is completely unacceptable, if we get lots of rain god help us because the drains will just get blocked.I would happily pay a bit extra on my council tax if that's the solution. This is the first time since I moved to London 36 years ago that I am embarrassed by my surroundings.

Goldsmith road actually looking not too bad this evening. Either the three-weekly sweep happened today (most likely) or our complaints have been heeded (less likely)Kevin - twitter tutorial on Sunday morning - your place 11.30. Not that I am very good at it - haven't mastered lists or tweetdeck (or whatever it is) and the other tools.

Twyford Avenue was litter picked but not swept on Wednesday for the first time in ages.  The street is still filthy, because of fallen leaves and bits too small to pick.I think I may go to the weekly "surgery" tomorrow and complain directly to my ward councillors as they rarely respond to emails and the next Ward Forum is not until March 2017 and by then I will probably be unable to get there due to the build up of fallen leaves.

East Acton Lane, just going towards the Park Club is a real mess of fallen leaves, bottles, food packets and who knows what else lurking under the leaves.  Come the autumn, we won't be able to move for leaves and general rubbish

Berrymead Gardens is always filthy and we haven't seen someone for a few weeks i think. This morning i saw one of my neighbours doing the top half of the street himself. Down the bottom of the street is fly tipping central i don't understand why the council doesn't do something to stop this. It's every week the same place. Get something in place to monitor the spot.

It's sad when one looks out to examine whether the street has been litterpicked or not and can't decide if it has or hasn't.  That's where I am today.  The street has been filthy and I cant tell if someone's tried or not.  Either way, it's still filthy.

I tweeted that the fly-tip near us hasn't been removed despite my reporting it to the Council.  The Council tweeted "sorry about that - report it again"!  Short, sharp reply from me thereafter!  This fly-tip has been there for several months now and I've previouslyreported it via the old Streetwatcher facility many times.  So, to report it again via the Council website, which I did, and then for it not to be removed along with the Council tweet to "report it again"....I saw red.

Today in Faraday Road was LITTER PICKED lots of rubbish left behind!I can't remember the last time the street was swept with a broom!Can you imagine how bad the streets will be once Autumn begins and all the leaves start falling?

Tony - have you reported the dumped fridge?  I was pleased with the council's speedy response to my reporting a mattress left on the pavement.  The auto reply advised it would be collected with 24 hrs, and it was!  I used the ealing.gov.uk website, and reported it under Flytipping.  Seems to work.

Well, I don't know if its the power of twitter or a coincidence, but, after I tweeted with a photo yesterday, it had been cleared by the time I let the salon, everything except the bycicle frame, however, by this morning more has been dumped there.I am so crap at twitter though I think I need a few lessons, Sara, I think you need to give me some written guidelines please!

Perhaps it's time to go old-school and raise a little noise: placards, megaphones and a crowd of angry Actonites in front of Perceval House. I'm sure we could whip up some local tv news interest. I think we've hit peak dumpy now and no one seems to be listening so... a plan?

When is the next Council election?  Clearly not soon.  My guess.....the Council will miraculously "fix" the problem like a knight in shining armour just prior to the elections.

Alfred Road, along with many others, is full with crud.  It's caked in.  Shameful.  Start a Twitter account - if we all did that, we'd get somewhere - you don't have to give your name.  I have.

I would not pay extra.  They get enough as it is.  There are a lot of fat salaries for people who can't even organise rubbish.

It is hugely embarrassing. Every foot fall on to rubbish. Twitter seems the only way to get their attention.  Got an instant response from councillor Crawford just now: @EalingCouncil @juliangbell @dancrawford85 Acton street filth rampant, nasty, embarrassing. Rubbish reigns. Bring back street cleaners!Bombard @EalingCouncil @juliangbell - they have to do something.

Totally agree. Derwentwater Road - especially at churchfiled Road end, is absolutely disgusting every day. Seriously third world conditions at the moment. Have got to assume that this is down to council cuts but would like someone who knows chapter and verse to explain here
