Yeo Valley Greed yoghurt with honey

Unfortunately I bought and opened a pot of this by mistake before I realised it wasn't plain yoghurt. Would anyone like it? Seems a shame to waste it.

Clare - sorry.  Greek yoghurt with honey. The memories of being on holiday in Greece with the morning sunshine starting to beat down, the chatter and clatter in the cafe increasing  and when one spoonful is sweet and the next sour - the cold of the yoghurt making the honey gooey. Mmm.

Victoria  Olio sounds great only I don't have and never have had a smartphone.  I expect I'll probably get one eventually... but have enough to contend with at present without having to learn how to use another gadget when the one I currently use works well enough.Love the horseradish/brandy cream story!

Claire  LOL  I hadn't realised it was Greek yoghurt - I thought it was a brand I'd never heard of.As far as I remember I just add a teaspoonful of cream cheese to each mince pie. I'm not very precise about mince pies and I tend to cheat on the pastry nowadays and buy ready-made shortcrust.MIL used to make some lovely ones with half an apricot in the bottom as well as the mince meat.I often put extra chopped apple - it reduces the richness of the mincemeat.  You can customise ready-made ones with care but best of all I prefer to make my own and roll the pastry thinner than the bought ones and to make mini sized ones.  Just putting a star of pastry on the top can also help reduce the amount of pastry.

I have put my Greek yoghurt (or greed yoghurt as I see I called it originally) onto Olio. No takers so far.... what a great app. Loved the stories about cream cheese and horseradish/brandy cream. Philippa, I have been looking for a good recipe for mince pies with cream cheese for years without success. Can you please let me have yours?

Phillipa, do you use OLIO? You have reminded me of our own Christmas mix up. I had prepared a ramekin of horseradish cream and one of brandy cream. Maybe I even had them sitting side by side on the counter top. I asked my husband to bring the horseradish from the kitchen, you can imagine the look on my guest's faces when they tucked into their dinner.

Please wedge your food waste bin against a wall/fence so it can't be turned over!

Fortnightly collections just before people go on holiday and at the end of tenancies are a bit of shock to the system especially when you have never considered reducing what you buy to make less waste and don't have to save up (where you often changed your mind on priorities before you finally bought) and can now buy anything instantly on credit.Just been out spraying someone else's food waste bins with citrus cleaner in the hope that the foxes will stop dragging them across the road in the middle of the night...  too much food waste! 1.30am  2.30am  3.30am  I think they must patrol.http://westlondonwaste.gov.uk/dont-leave-your-food-behind-this-summer/

Sounds a great idea.  We can all make mistakes - sent husband out to buy cream cheese at Christmastime to put in the mince pies and he came back with 2 x tubs of cream cheese with chives.  It happens.  We ate it - but not in the mince pies - although it might have been interesting and I guess that is how great recipes are sometimes created.

It really is wonderful! I've met quite a few lovely people living nearby. I have had good success even with half a jar of pickled mushrooms. I do put items on OLIO well before they are dodgy. You can put out of date items on it, but I prefer to be a bit organised (like the OP!) and pass on a good product to a good home :)

If you use a smartphone, there is an amazing app called OLIO which is a food sharing anti-waste network. I use it regularly to share food that I have mis-judged purchasing (please don't judge me!). Polite users, really easy to use.
