I hope this meeting will at least take place, because the last time a 'support Jeremy Corbyn' meeting was booked into Ealing Town Hall, the council found some last minute reason to withdraw the venue.

At least those highly paid entertainers earned the money to buy their expensive houses. Not like a certain Labour council leader occupying subsidised social housing while he owns a £1million+ private property in road nearby.

How much money has been wasted with ill-thought out and failed economy drives which then have to be bailed out at public expense?  Who exactly has been hit by "austerity cuts"?  Buildings bequeathed to Councils once sold are lost forever.  It is the most vulnerable who always seem to be targeted first.

Are you saying all socialists should live in a hovel? These people are all highly paid entertainers. Those of us who do live in the real world (like me) live in normal flats or small houses. I haven't been to Mr Corbyn's home but from the tv it looks like a small semi detached property. Nothing grand but these are London silly house prices.

Chris £600,000 in Islington ! You could not buy a studio flat in luvvie Islington for that . Socialists do not live in the real world , as per your reply . How interesting about Tax avoidance Tony Benn , sitting back in his Holland Park Mansion puffing on his porcelain pipe telling people Capatalist Conservatives hate the working class and closed the mines . When will a champagne socialist live what they preach (sorry forgot about non tax payer Bono , Charlotte yacht Church and Eddie £20 mil Izzard.

Tony Benn inherited his father's estate (Stansgate House). When Tony's wife died, I believe the Holland Park house was placed in joint ownership with his children and Stansgate House into a trust. This arrangement allowed the Benn siblings (including MP Hillary) to inherit virtually tax free upon their father's death. All entirely legal tax avoidance. I believe Ralph Miliband used similar arrangements to pass on his estate to his sons.

According to the Telegraph - not exactly Corbyn fans- The Labour leader bought his home in North London in 2007 for £363,000 and this has since risen in value to over £600,000 according to property experts. I think Tony Benn inherited the Holland park house didn't he?

I would say £3 million Chris . Tony Benns house in Holland Park Avenue with the blue plaque saying " Famous Socialist " was recently valued at £22 MILLION , but he didn't leave the property to the unions or refugees . Corbyn could move to a normal area like Edmonton , but he would miss his middle class Luvvies in Islington ! At least the Blairs admit what they are !

The labour candidates are promising to spend £200 BILLION on public services , and the money comes from ??? Pathetic champagne socialists who have never run a business or live life in the real world ! Isn't it great how Labour will never win a foreseeable election.

And not forgetting they were responsible for financial regulation of the banking industry as the house of cards collapsed: Northern Rock, RBS, HBOS etc. We are still feeling the shockwaves now. You can trace Brexit back to this hopeless failure of economic management, and to Gordon Brown in particular. Incompetent doesn't even come close...

Well they were certainly responsible for having run up public debt to c£700b even before the financial crisis. And they are also responsible for:- year on year increases in borrowing even when other economies were generating surpluses- failing to deal with public sector pensions which has now pretty much guaranteed the nhs will go bust under the weight of its medical pensioner millionaires- saddling the nhs with c£100b of pfi debt- trashing private sector pensions- huge and as it turns out completely unaffordable hiring spree in the public sector- failing to create private sector jobs to the point four public sector jobs were created for every private sector job (and less than that in Scotland)Unless you were asleep for 13 years you can't have missed this.

Depends which way you look at it.I doubt that voting for the party which was in power for 13 years and borrowed and spent money like there was no tomorrow has much credibility anymore when it comes to the management of the economy.Pain now is better than unbearable agony in 5 or 10 years. The economy being just one area where they failed miserably of course.

It's not very often one gets to experience time travel, let alone having the opportunity to do so in our own town centre but here we are - a golden opportunity to step back in time and experience first hand the failed politics of the 1970s.
