20 mph

20mph signs have suddenly sprouted from lamp posts round here... anyone know what's going on? Have we been told? Was I asleep at the time...?

I do object to it. It's a ridiculously low speed.

I don't know, it's 20mph around North Acton playing fields, and people absolutely floor it around there on a regular basis! Given half the people who do it work in the industrial estate, I can't imagine they're being fined.I suppose it all depends if there are cameras to catch the speeders.

Thank you for that. I remember the original proposal (a long time ago, it seems) and see from your link that 'The council will now undertake a public consultation on the introduction of the new speed for a trial scheme'. I don't remember any news of a consultation, and seeing that the trial was planned to take place in Acton, would have thought that there would have been some publicity. I bet they won't be slow in fining drivers for breaking a speed limit they didn't know existed. I had a look at the Council website this afternoon and could see nothing about the new limit being introduced.I have no objection to the new speed limit - just the cavalier way that Ealing Council is imposing it.But then, why should we be surprised by anything this inefficient bunch of numpties does...
