First - Clean the vents with a vacuuming rather than having to take it apart. Second - As you first posted that its an old laptop, it is likely that your memory (RAM) may be on the low size. If you have too many programs/applications opened it will run out of memory (usage) and crash (shut down). Close down any programs/applications if you are not using them. Thirdly - You may be able to stretch the life of the laptop by adding more memory (RAM). This is something not very difficult to do, but need some advice/guidance/support. If you need further advice/guidance and support just email me? I DON'T charge or make a living in help people with their IT problems. I DON'T run a business, I am only a humble (fully qualified) ICT/Computing/Computer Science Teacher with industrial experience.
