Actually I found out just from moaning to my new upstairs neighbours that it probably has to do with them applying for a new permit. It seems that Ealing council (unbeknown to us obviously) simply cancelled our permit when our neighbours applied for one: the council said that there already was a permit at that address but wouldn't give my neighbours the name on the permit (otherwise they would have known it was us); as our neighbours said they were the only residents at that address, Ealing C. cancelled our permit! I still haven't had a call or email back from them. I challenged my Parking ticket in good faith thinking my permit was valid and there was a mistake but as I officially don't have a perking permit (which I didn't know at the time of the challenge), the challenge has been rejected with no possibility of appeal! Obviously none of this would have been possible if we still had paper parking permits... Needless to say that I'm at war.Good point about the not displaying a parking permit, could catch them out on their choice of words.
