Ark Byron School Site in Acton Park

Looks like a large number of people have made the site their home. 4 caravans on Sarurday morning, which all left around 1pm. They were back this morning and by around 4 pm this afternoon there were at least 8 caravans plus a generator and 2 petrol cans. I've reported it to LBE

This is what worries me about people asking for recommendations for a man with van to take away rubbish - or someone knocking at the door and offering to take away any rubbish for you for cash.  It could so easily end up costing us twice as it ends up illegally dumped.You should be able to check whether a waste carrier has a licence here:https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/index

Yes - just realised they have gone. When did they leave, do we know? Was it of their own accord or were they evicted? Will the site be secured properly now?

They have now left. Leaving total devastation and one caravan. Lucky us??

Yes the police went away again- so business is carrying on as usual.

Only about three police 15 minutes ago, a car full of children - angled as if had just come out of the site and five or six cross-looking young men.No vehicle access to Bryant Court when I was there.

Lots of police there now so maybe something is happening. Also when I went to Ealing early this morning it looked like more travellers on the Common

I live across the road so will keep a look out. Nothing happening as yet.

I believe the land belongs to the council. The mountain of rubbish is growing very fast, about half the site is covered.

I think it would have to be taken by whoever owned the site.Difficult to stop people coming back though, once they know about the location. Those concrete blocks can always be dragged aside by a half decent vehicle.

No they are still on the site. I guess there will have to be some legal action taken before they are evicted. I'm not sure if this would be taken by the council or by the school.

What's going on here are they now moved on  and is the area cleared or when are works due to start

The concrete blocks that were placed in front of the gate, presumably to stop the cars and vans coming in and out of the site, have been moved so they can enter and exit at will. Not sure who placed the blocks but they are totally ineffective. Lots of police there the other morning plus a large bulldozer but they all went away again without doing anything.

And it would stop others from collecting it and then dumping it somewhere.

Hi Kim, it was on the News that a man in Up North see this gap and took the opportunity to start up a business's collecting rubbish from households at a cost, hope similar happens in the South unless the Council comes up with a similar ides (at a cost) people would be happy to pay for a few collections.

When I walked past on Thursday the barrier was in a different position and there were two vans parked outside unable to get into the site. The occupants of one van which had just pulled up looked furious. One of the barriers has been shifted.  A few months ago, when I was looking at having the remains of a shed removed I was stunned at the enormous cost of removing rubbish. The dump charged £30 per 100kg and skips were coming in at around £400 including permit as without a dropped curb I had to pay to have it on the road.In the end a caged van from a licences firm took the waste away for £250.It is unsurprising that residents agree to pay £100 to someone ringing the doorbell offering to take the rubbish away without asking too many questions.Maybe the council is missing an opportunity  to make a few quid by undercutting the fly tippers as well as saving the cost of clearing up the mess, which they will have to do anyway. Cutting out the middle men.

The barriers are pointless as vehicles can still go in and out.  I saw one going in about 5pm.

According to the notice on the enclosure the concrete barriers is to prevent the occupants bringing in more rubbish by preventing vehicles to have access. Agree Chris, it was very insecure, just a chain. As well as the cost it could impact on the building of the school.

I don't understand why the site was so unsecured. It's going to cost a fortune to evict them and then clean it up.

Anyone with a bolt cutter could cut through the locks.I noticed big concrete blocks being installed on the Uxbridge road side.

The police were there this morning, so must be aware. But no evictions yet.

Agree - not workers! But how did they get in? The site should have been secured surely?

If it's workers, then they need reporting for child labour, I saw a few children looking out of the fence.

Definitely not workers. There were women sitting in camping chairs this afternoon.  Plus rubbish has been dumped at the back of the site. A lot of it!
