Crossrail Works December2016 to January 2017

Acton Crossrail Works: Information Bulletin Saturday 10 December 2016 — Sunday 29 January 2017This bulletin provides local residents with an outline of the work Network Rail and our contractors are undertaking in the coming weeks, including over Christmas, in your area. In order to provide a safe working environment for our engineers, certain work must take place at night and at weekends. Mobile screens/barriers or enclosures will be placed around the breaking equipment and other noisy hand-held tools, where practical to do so.Crossrail works at Acton Main Line station will provide a new station building, step free access to all platforms, a new canopy on platform 4 and extended platform lengths. For more information on this work please visit: http://voNw.crossrail.co.uldroute/western-section/acton-main-line-station.The Acton dive-under is needed so that trains leaving the Acton freight yard do not delay passenger trains heading towards Acton Main Line and on to central London. For more information on this work please visit: http://www.crossrail.co.uk/news/articles/excavation-of-new-crossrail-dive-under-begins-at-acton.Please note that there will be an increase in the amount of work taking place over the Christmas and New Year periods. We will be working 24 hours a day during those periods and therefore residents may notice our presence more than usual during this time.We will be extending platform 2/3 so that the station can accommodate the longer Elizabeth line trains. Access to the station will be closed to the public at the times when we are carrying out this piece of work. Traffic may be congested at times on Horn Lane due to machinery and materials being delivered to site. All works highlighted in bold may generate some noise or disturbance which residents may notice. All workers will receive daily briefs reminding them to be considerate to our neighbours. Thank you for you continued patience.Saturday 10 — Friday 16 December 2016Saturday 23:00 to Sunday 09:00 Installation of drainage Saturday 17 — Friday 23 December 2016Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 09:00 Installation of drainage and preparatory works on Overhead Line Equipment (OLE)Monday to Friday 22:00 to 10:00 Installation of drainage and OLE preparatory worksSaturday 24 — Tuesday 27 December 2016Saturday 07:00 to Monday 08:00 Platform 3 Extension Works — set-up of site working areas; removal of part of the platform to prepare for platform extension; installation of new platform extension foundations.Saturday 22:00 to Tuesday 16:00 Relay of track, including removal and installation of rail, sleepers, and ballastProfiling, tamping and packing of ballast (including the use of a bulldozer)Work to OLE including the installation of small parts of steel and wiring as well as general inspections using a mobile elevated working platformExcavation and installation of drainage Network Rail Infrastructure Limited Registered Office: Network Rail, 2nd Floor, One Eversholt Street, London, NW1 2DN Registered in England and Wales No. 2904587 www.networkrail.co.uk Tuesday 27 — Thursday 29 December 2016Monday to Friday Compound working only Friday 30 December 2016 — Monday 2 January 2017Friday to Monday 08:00 to 18:00 Installation of drainageVarious hours between 06:00 Saturday and 18:00 Monday Platform 3 Extension Works — set-up of site working areas; removal of part of the platform to prepare for platform extension; installation of new platform extension foundations.Tuesday 3 January - Sunday 29 January 2017Saturday and Sunday Installation of foundations for overhead line structures to enable the use of06:00 — 18:00 the new Elizabeth line electric powered trains. We always try our best to install the foundations using a vibration method. However, where the ground conditions are tougher, the vibration method is not strong enough and we will need to use a stronger but noisier technique which involves the foundations being hammered into the ground to complete the essential work. These works mostly need to occur during the night or at weekends while the trains are not running on the adjacent tracks, which is essential to provide a safe working area for our engineers.Saturday 22:00 to Monday Installation of drainage and general track works06:00 Ongoing worksOngoing until 30 November 2017Various hours throughout the week • Excavation and installation of ducting, foundation bases and new drainage systems• Installation of mechanical, electrical and communication equipment• Installation of earthing and bonding cables along the station• Platform extensionThese activities may be noisy at times — created by the use of pneumatic drills breaking unexpected concrete obstructions.Various hours until 31 December 2017 Conducting site surveys, delivering and removing materials, installing mechanical, electrical and communication equipment and snagging works on platforms. These activities should not cause too much disturbance. Noisy vehicles and reversing alarms may be heard. Please note that Network Rail maintenance machines are also likely to work in this area over this period. This is not part of Crossrail works. Our contractors undertaking the above work are part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, which includes minimising any environmental impacts and working to reduce the impact on neighbours and the public. Although we aim to undertake works at the above times and dates, at times last minute changes to track closures may result in variations. If you have any additional questions relating to the content of this bulletin please contact our 24-Hour National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or CRCrossrailanetworkrail.co.uk Network Rail Infrastructure Limited Registered Office: Network Rail, 2nd Floor, One Eversholt Street, London, NW1 2DN Registered in England and Wales No. 2904587 www.networkrail.co.uk
