No new schools next year

On the front page of this magazine is the news that the proposed Ark school in Acton Park will not open next year. There is a meeting at Ark Byron school tonight (Monday) to explain and to give an idea of temporary arrangements that might be made for children who expect to start school next September. The new North Twyford school secondary in Ealing won't be built either. I'd like to know how this is squaring with the Regeneration department vision of another 20,000 for the area.

The word racist is used far to often to gag people from stating the obvious,everyone can see the problems but refusing to admit they can makes me think they could be in fear of losing their jobs or being called racist themselves which would not be the case at all.  That leaves the problem of being unable to mention important issues so they are never dealt with soescalate into anger and further problems that could have been avoided. There have been problems of 'overcrowding' areas over the years especially after the war so maybe we should look back to see how is was dealt with then.

I am employed and not a racist , Tony Mansell failed to respond on the fact that he cannot comment on the fact that mass immigration obviously puts a strain on all public services !

I will be interested to learn whether the extra children will be accommodated in temporary classrooms previously known as p refabs.

I was reading about the baby boom after the war and how there were not enough space or schools to cope so they put in prefab type buildings for school rooms within school grounds and there were about 40 pupils in a class, interesting.

Reverend Nick Jones is a Derwentwater governor and he says there will be some  spaces at Derwentwater. Perhaps Berrymead too. Maybe St. Vincent's. No mention of Ark Priory

Not at all, everyone can put an opinion forward he is making the point one I was called a racist for mentioning 'overcrowding' which is very important issue. Quality of life for everyone is important and ignored.

Places available at Derwentwater apparently. It is an excellent school - both mine went there and went on to University and one is doing a PhD thanks to the great start they got.

Im a parent of a Priory go-er. Its not ideal and they will be full after next years intake but they are doing their best. Byron may be finished in time for the following Easter. Meantime stop panicking, the parents aren't.

I believe so but I'd like to hear from any Ark Priory parents or nursery school parents who thought there would be a new school by September. BTW the site still hasn't been cleared of rubbish.
