Thanks for sharing this, Chris, I am so glad to hear the Aeronaut is hoping to re-open. I drove past it on New Year's Eve and it looked so festive and beautiful, the only beacon of Christmas in Acton.Acton desperately needs the Aeronaut back - places that take pride in their appearance, engage with the community and deliver good product and service.

Their evacuation procedure appeared to have been first rate. Congratulations on that front and I really hope that they can restore the Pub.

Tony,I do not think Sprinklers were fitted in this location,they would have operated,the best was that the owners has the good sense to pre-plan and practice fire safety evacuations,which paid off in this case some 340 persons evacuated safely.regards John

Janice,The fact that the Aeronaut had practiced fire evacuations,some 340 persons escaped from this incident,fire spreads faster than a person can run,so pre -planning is a great bonus when fire occurs,you should always have a plan of what to do when fire happens,regards John.

I believe that some of the articles that you can now buy online don't meet UK fire safety requirements.

One thing I thought about was whether the pub has a Sprinkler System but I guess the fire must have taken hold so quickly that it would have not worked anyway.

Hi John, so some fire risk products still end up on the market and with things like Christmas decorations they are sold from many outlets.I wonder who supplied the decorations to them or maybe they purchased their own but scary how quickly the fire spread and how lucky that everyone got out.......Happy new Year to you

Janice,Happy new year,Although it should be fire retardant,most Christmas trees are a hazard fire wise,trimming can be purchased fire retardant,but as always some foreign manufactured items do not meet any required standards and when found are removed from circulation,extreme care should be taken when putting up trimming etc,the fire spread an be horrendous as it was in this case.regards John.

Thought Christmas Trees had safe light decorations now, like Led lights or similar,  be interested to know how the fire started, glad your daughter and everyone had escaped unharmed

My daughter had a table near to the Christmas tree which burst into flames. She said the speed at which the fire spread was truly frightening. There was no time to collect their bags and coats. The staff were amazing and cleared the place very quickly.

Terrible shame. We nearly got caught up in it coming back from Brentford last night. Lots of police and fire engines so we turned round and went another route.Luckily there don't seem to be any casualties.
