All we have is a huge hole in the ground where the shops should be, no idea what shops, if any, will replace those which were lost.We were promised a Waitrose but of course Waitrose had no intention of coming to Acton, they confirmed this to me some time ago. It does look like a huge con to get the go ahead for this development! The range of shops in Acton High Street would not entice many shoppers into the area. Betting shops, Estate Agents, coffee shops are all that is on offer, unless one likes public houses. Thank goodness for Morrisons at least and Savers of course, but I find myself going to Ealing Broadway because of the variety of shops. This is such a shame and once people start voting with their feet they are less likely to return to our High Street anytime soon. The developers and the council are keeping residents in the dark as to what shops, if any. will be located in The Oaks once the development is completed. I think we have the right to know!It was rather like putting a carrot in front of a donkey to convince people to approve of this scheme but all to got was empty promises!Another point, Acton High Street is filthy - we need a good clean up of the area for a start!  The shops in Market Place are taking up too much of the pavement making it difficult to walk past and their rubbish is usually piled up across the street for hours before being collected.St Mary's Graveyard is a total disgrace with piles of beer cans and other rubbish scattered amongst the graves. There is more rubbish from the market behind the metal storage shed, which is covered in graffiti.Welcome to Acton!
