Sad news

I am sorry to let you know that CCA member and contributor for many years to this forum, Nikki Howard, died on 3 January. We have no details yet of funeral arrangements but Maire Lowe (CCA Secretary) is the person to contact if you would like details as they become available. We will also post them on here.

Thank you to the two Grafton Road residents who responded. We still cant find the person who spoke to Nikki's cousin and it is quite important. If you livevon the road or have friends who do so, would you ask them if they know anyone matching our description. Thank you in advance.

We urgently need to speak to the resident of Grafton Road who approached Nikki Howard's cousin yesterday with apparently definitive news on Nikki's last wishes. Nikki was certainly a very dynamic campaigner and never one to give up on any issue she thought mattered.She definitely added to the vigour of the area.RIP

This is sad news.  She was a very vociferous campaigner against air pollution.  She more than many was very aware of the problems it can cause and aggravate.  This is what I will remember her for.  I'm afraid that many more people may in time regret that they too weren't more active in putting air pollution higher on their agenda.

So sad to hear of the death of Nikki Howard. Passionate Conservative and strong campaigner against pollution on Horn Lane. Former MP Angie Bray had these words to say about Nikki : I got to know Nikki through her campaign against the long-standing pollution problem in Acton around Horn Lane. Nikki, like many local residents, suffered from the effects and she made sure that I, as the local MP, was fully aware of the problem. She also made sure I took up her campaign. There is still a long way to go. Nikki was always an active community-minded Acton resident and she will be greatly missed

Angie Bray our former and much missed MP wrote: 'I got to know Nikki through her campaign against the long standing pollution problem around Horn Lane. Like many local residents, Nikki suffered from its effects. She made sure that I was made aware of the problems and that I took up her cause. There have been many successes but there is more to do. Nikki was always an active minded member of her community. She will be greatly mjssed'

The good news is that we have made contact with Nikki's relatives and they will be visiting London next week to make arrangements. We will let you know date and time for the funeral. Nikki was a talented musician as well as a photographer and an artist. I'm hoping for some music at the funeral and that as many of you as possible will come to say Goodbye to one of our own.

Nikki's great photos of the polluting industries located in Goods Yard on Horn Lane influenced the brilliant work done by the liaison group set up by Angie Bray our former MP. Vlod is too modest to tell you that he efficiently chairs the liaison group holding the industries, Network Rail and the Council to account in behalf of all residents. Nikki was indefatigable,  funny and kind to her friends. We will not see her like again. Funeral arrangements to follow.

Sad news indeed. Nikki's bark was much worse than her bite (though that didn't cut any ice with the moderators on this forum) and was one of the more entertaining correspondents during my time as a councillor. Rest in peace.
