Consultation: Churchfield Road Public Realm Improvements

The improvements proposed are part of Ealing Council’s Acton High Street Programme, funded by The Mayor of London’s High Street Fund and New Homes Bonus. The London-wide High Street Fund initiatives aim to improve the look and feel of places, making them more attractive and welcoming for residents and visitors, as well as provide support to local businesses.The proposed improvements aim to enhance the local environment as well as improve the east-west pedestrian and cycle connections in Acton town centre through the shopping area at Churchfield Road to Acton Central Station. Well there are two less parking spaces for cars but they are increasing parking space for bike - don't know by how many but it will be more than two - so that should be fine.

I think it means a slightly raised profile compared to the pavement ... not picnic benches.Also, the last word in my earlier comment should have been "designed" not "desired".

I think it's important to see both of these issues as separate things.  The improvements can only be a positive thing - and from what i know its been a long time coming.  Most if not all the traders are behind it - the only downside being it is not the whole street.  But it is a start and we will take it.  As for the parking, the consultation on that has not happened yet either but it is being treated separately by the council.

If the aim is to keep Churchfield road as a prosperous shopping and dining area, it's a higher priority to radically tweak or not implement the changes to the CPZ - which is going to wipe out most of the trade along the street.This seems like window dressing by comparison.
