Acton Crossrail delayed

So I went back to search ....The Network Rail plans do not remove the old station .... but ..."The existing station building is not part of the proposal and would be demolished as part of the surrounding amenity works and urban realm proposals."and"Transport ServicesNo objections, subject to the removal of the existing station building. I seem to remember that the original plan for Acton Mainline showed the old building would remain.

As we understood it, the problem seems to be that there is no budget for demolishing the present stations and there is a standoff with the Council on this. I can't quite see the problem myself.

Ahh you might be right, it's going to take ahwile for them to deliver the train no doubt. Maybe it's a combination of these things.

I don't know the answer for sure but my guess would be that they had to complete the central tunnelled section to Paddington first before they could start work on the reconfiguration of Paddington to link the Elizabeth Line up with the Great Western tracks. Could it be that it has to do with the leasing or purchase of trains that the new rolling stock was put into service before the various sections were properly joined up?

Sorry Andy i'll re-write. When i read the crossrail literature my first thought was that they will make us change trains at paddington. Like you state - Get on crossrail train at acton, change for another new crossrail train for the paddington to liverpool street section. But i thought this was bizarre and thought it couldn't be true and maybe i'd read it wrong. Or maybe it was more hope on my part! Your post appears to confirm my initial assumption.I assume they are taking this approach to test the sections of the track in isolation but since the trains will be moving through the sections why not join them up as they come online. Addtional signalling complications?

I suspected that there might be a change of new train to new train at paddington next year but honestly thought it so bizarre it couldn't possibly be true, but reading the crossrail literature that's how it appeared. How wrong i was.

This seems to be picking up on an article published yesterday on EalingToday.co.uk about delays at West Ealing station.Actually there is no delay to Crossrail but they have concentrated on the platform lengthening rather than the station buildings which will allow the new Elizabeth line trains to service Acton Mainline from next year. The at the end of next year the central section of Crossrail opens at which point you will be able to change at Paddington from Acton Mainline on a new train and get a different new train on Crossrail proper. Only from the end of the following year will you be able to whizz across London directly from Acton Mainline and that is when they are saying they will have finished the stations.
