Bingo Hall becomes Climbing Centre

Looks like the church is moving out and a climbing centre is moving/climbing in.From their Facebook page"We've got some exciting news... so more flats? thanks for the link, wasn't sure what this building was or was called. lets hope it lifts the lower end of the high street- the whole of that area needs an urgent boost since its the first thing you see when driving into acton. Another query- appologies if its in the wrong thread but any idea whats happening with the 888 club over the road?

Anyone know whats happening with the big ugly building adjacent to the bingo hall- i think it may have been a multi story car park, lots of disused shops below and a big image/mural on the front. a real eye sore.

I met recently with someone whose full time job is to go around the country and redesign climbing walls in climbing centres. Apparently after three years plus the routes need to be changed to keep members challenged and to keep them attending, especially after they have mastered the hard climbs. He made similar comments that the locations of such places are in off beat places in being financially viable (there is one under the Westway on the way onto London I think?) and it is a growing sport (he is a semi-pro rock climber and funds that through this work).

Brilliant news! Ive done this in other parts of London and as a very inexperienced climber I was a bit concerned it would be a 'jocks' mentality but it really isn't. cant wait !

It will be busy as it will draw climbers from a large area. Hopefully some local businesses will benefit from the increased footfall.

My reading of their pricing is that you can pay for one-off visits OR sets of one-off visits OR monthly OR multiple months.Wording is not great though.Also - some of their prices will be going up soon.They say that they have been very busy during peak hours so will be having a one-in/one-out policy when very crowded and putting up some prices.Their Facebook page has plenty of positive feedback and they do seem to take action if issues are highlighted.

I must have misread as I thought it was £50 per month membership plus the entrance fee.  If that's not the case then I agree it's not bad for £10.50 (incl. shoe hire)... and seems you can stay as long as you like.

One hour of trampolining at oxygen is £15 and you have to book to get in.Climbing is a growing sport. This is an amazing addition for Acton!

Looks amazing -and one entrance at £7.50 surely isnt extortionate - about the same as Putt in the Park isnt it?Not that I am likely to be abseiling from the top of the circle to the old stage.Anyone know where the church is going? I wondered why it never had the major works done.
