Churchfield Road Parking

Speaking with Tim the butcher, it was very concerning to get his feedback on the parking and how it is threatening the businesses in Churchfield Road. Didn't there used to be free parking options for an hour? What happened to that?Who do we lobby at the council about this?Surely, like rightminded councils around the country, they could operate a free half hour option, at least. That is all that most people need to use the business they are visiting and it keeps the parking flowing.If we don't address this, Churchfield Road will become a dead street of flats and boarded up shops..and the value of your home will diminish with it.

it does depend or where you live in K1 now... I cant go out and come back between 9 and 3 and park anywhere near my house!  and  there is the possibility that the new flats and new shops  on churchfield road will create even more cars wanting to park in K1. hence the new K only! who knows this council have a mind of their own!

I don't remember it changing from K1 being allowed to park in K (and even K in K1 but that might have changed without me noticing) ... and it certainly used to be the situation.There was much annoyance and confusion in the early years of the zone.For example see http://www.actonw3.com/default.asp?section=info&page=conparking007.htm

Paul Webster are you absolutely sure about K1 being able to park in K zone, I was always under the impression that we wouldn't be able to.

K1 permits have always been valid in K (for K hours).

Wouldn't the problem be solved by making K1 permits valid in zone K but not changing the operating hours on zone K1?

Is there going to be any disabled parking in Churchfield Road and surrounds with this new scheme?Took mum to Tailor Made on Friday (lovely!) but parking a nightmare and I can't just drop her off and let her wander in alone. We have the blue badge but nowhere to deploy it!

It benefits people who live up the Morrisons end of Churchfield Road who currently can't park outside their houses at all. But it is a stupid idea for the whole area.  One size doesn't fit all.

The letter I received from the council includes 26 streets. In any case there is no benefit to local business or residents, quite the opposite! I resent the council going ahead with this not only because there is no benefit for for us but because changing the signs is not cheap and they should be spending our money and their time on things that benefit the local community. This will not help you much, but it is not all of K1 that is being merged.It is a few streets that are very close to Churchfield Road.I posted the detail of the change in an earlier post.A lot of people are unhappy about it.

I received a notification from the council earlier this week stating that after the consultation CPZ K1 is going to be merged with K. I find it difficult to believe that people would have voted for this because:1. K1 is only restricted between 9 & 10am and 3 & 4pm2. Because of the above there will be a cost for visitors outside those hours3. The resident permits will cost £83 instead of £53This has a negative impact on businesses and residents and it is simply to make more money because currently there is no issue with daytime parking in K1

I was speaking to Tim today as well and he said that they took the tree away from the front of his butcher's shop with the intention to plant again afterwards but they decided not to because of a gas main.If their assessment was right then does that mean that the pre-existing tree was also a significant but unknown risk?

Hard to work out what is happening with the extended pavement. Do the cars park that now? Are where the hell have the trees gone?! They've taken a couple down and don't look like replacing them. Council taking the soul out of the pretty road.
