North Acton Station Square - Update

Groundworks has restarted. It's extremely deep but I'm sure it will be covered with concrete and soil once again.I just hope it's not the repeat of 2016 when they started the groundworks in Autumn and then halted in December.

Was surprised to see the new steps open and the original route blocked off without moving the zebra crossing.

Went through there today for the first time for a while ... and the Chase Road entrance has moved.It is now a broad set of steps beside the Holiday Inn going down to the station doors.

Tania Bapuji,I strongly agree with you about money mismanagement. Last week Ealing Council decided to reduce the width of our residential street without consulting the residents, resulting in further reduced visibility of oncoming cars from other roads. My neighbour said that the local councillor told him 500 residential signatures was collected. Massive lie because nobody on our street is aware of this. 6 months ago I emailed Ealing Council to implement road bumps because we have a lot of speeding vans and lorries in small residential streets in West Acton. They declined because it will cost £7,000 per road bump.Too many pen pushers at the council. Fire the lot of them.

They must have known about contamination.  It's the same reason why most disused petrol stations are car washes, it's the only thing which is allowed.  If the council doesn't know this god help us. I have no faith in council contracts being anything but terrible - history will prove my case and currently the London Stadium is doing just that.  It will overun by time and money and be managed horribly if not corruptly.It frustrates me why year after year councils of all colours are allowed to get away with wasting our money by mismanagement. The way they manage these projects are laughable and wouldn't be tolerated in the private sector so why do we allow it in the public sector?  Grr! Rant over! :-)

It would be interesting to learn how much this pocket hankie sized piece of land has cost to date and what the projected cost might be. If there is a consultant employed who wasn't able to understand that land underneath a petrol station is likely to be contaminated, then hopefully that person is no longer on the books.
