Broken Society ???

I wanted to share with forum members a reader's letter in a newspaper, it gives one food for thought.The police won't protect us, the NHS might not look after us, boys can be girls, girls can be boys, foreign murderers, rapists and known terrorists can live here with impunity, subsidised by taxpayers, people can't say this or that without upsetting someone, minority groups rule, speeding and parking cameras are there to fleece us. The country is going to hell in a handcart.

I totally agree John, I for one know who the cowards are. They are afraid to enter a serious duscussion, instead they throw insults at those who dare post something they disagree with.

John, Thank you for your post and message of supoort.I fully expected the negative comments in responce to the reader's letter which was in a newspaper last week, but it saddens me to realise that serious discussion cannot take place in this country without throwing insults and accusations.the PC brigade have won, or at least they THINK they have won.I wasn't aware that we were all living some sort of utopia, more like cloud cuckoo land.

Well put, Keith. This sort of polarisation is increasingly common. It's only a few weeks some some Labour MP said that she could never be friendly with a Conservative. I wouldn't vote for someone that narrow-minded.

sick of the constant divisive statements made on here made by the same few folk who if you challenge them scream “you’re being “ politically correct” to try and actually shut down debate themselves , sure you’re entitled to express your crass views but don’t be at all surprised when challenged especially when many of us notice the constamt drip drip comments on, hmmmm let’s see, usually Muslims and immigrants,...we either stand united as one community  or we don’t stand at all

I dislike it most when someone is offended on someone else's behalf, as if that person can't speak for themselves.I also dislike it when you might disagree with someone about one issue and then the person with whom you disagree then puts you in a box labelled ' Always disagree with this person'.Part of life is recognising that others have different opinions outside your bubble and if one or two of those ideas offend you, say so , ask for an explanation if you like and move on. We all have far more in common than we have difference.

In this world of people taking offence and acting like it's the end of the world, more than ever people need reminding of the saying:"I don't agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."Once we start clamping down on opinions other than your own we're entering very dangerous territory.

No, not like that election at all actually. Germany is a very young democracy, relatively speaking and Merkel did not know it at all until the wall came tumbling down. That is maybe why giving people a say twists the EU's melon so much.

And nobody wants to pay tax.  If you don't put enough money in a service doesn't work properly.  It takes Governments to make good decisions to keep things working well.
