Local Councillors are not paid a formal salary as such, they certainly don't give up their time for FREE. What they do get for their effort is a healthy allowances to compensate them for their time spent on council business. The amount varies across the nation from a couple of thousand pounds a year to £20,000 or more. And I have read that Ealing Council pays Councillors a healthy allowance so why should anyone feel sorry for them. The overriding duty of Councillors is to the whole community, but they have a special duty to their constituents, including those who did not vote for them., Party lines mean nothing and we are entitled to point thing out if the are not performing their duties in representing us .....
