Consultation on Ultra Low Emissions Zone - includes Acton

Thanks VlodHmm, strange I tried to look a couple of weeks ago and it didn't show up on the London Air Quality site. It does now though. Maybe just a glitch. Glad to see it's ok.

John, the problem is that the Labour Mayor of London has differnt views... Pay £12.50 for the Privilege in 2021 if your car does not meet the standards

Viod,i refer to my previous comments,but strongly agree that this is a money making exercise using the motorist asa cash cow yet again,we have a right to own and drive any vehicle we like no matter of its age etc.regards John.

Hi Viod,well said,it is all a money making racket,and could well against our human rights,could well be the final strawand the end of this Mayors office who has done little to placate the horrendous knife crime or the lack of Police on the streets,as for the pollution,if you lived before the Clean air act,you will remember the peasoupers we had then whilst we have freedom of movement in the E.U,we do not enjoy the same in our country as we are curtailed by moves to prevent so called pollution costing us dearly to drive and park anywhere?regards John.

Whilst the situation regarding particulates (dust particles referred to as PM10s) has improved, nitrogen dioxide levels (produced largely by diesel powered vehicles) remain above EU target levels; an average of 44 microgrammes per cubic metre (ug/m3) in 2017 and 46 ug/m3 so far this year - the target is no more than 40 ug/m3. Hardly surprising given the traffic backing up from the A40 traffic lights and the changes to the road layout at the roundabout reducing traffic from two lanes to one won't have helped.Nitrogen dioxide levels are very localised. Most of London meets EU targets but areas with heavy traffic congestion (such as Horn Lane and the Hanger Lane Gyratory) fail them. The proposed Ultra Low Emisson Zone is an extremely crude means to try to reduce pollution as it doesn't address pollution hotspots and falsely implies that all cars made before 2006 are more polluting than all cars made after that date. The ULEZ is a money making exercise masquerading as a pollution control measure, much like the impending higher CPZ charges.

Just as an aside, the air monitoring unit next to the Waste Transfer Station has been switched off.Does anybody know if it's going to be started up again? I assume it got turned off due to the roadworks, but in that location it's really useful to check on the industrial site and the traffic.

The issue here is cars, the mayor will introduce a new ULEZ from October 2021 any petrol car older than 2007 and any Diesel car older that 2017 will be hit with a £12.50p daily charge to drive in London within the North and South Circular Road...

Any Development within the Rail Goods Yard must (should!) have Planning Permission from LBE, they do have control.No, the Noise Pollution is increasing, Hanson for instance have been responsible for at least four new Noise Nuisances.

Rosco you know that the Goods yard belongs to Network Rail not LBE and that the leases on the various businesses are outside the control of the Council. However the liaison group has the Environment Agency helping out. Hansons was fined several hundred £££ and two waste transfer businesses left the area abruptly. The noise is monitored and reports made. You must have seen a big improvement in the last few years. More to do, but it isn't just about telling the businesses to sling their hook.

There is also Noise Pollution.The Rail Goods Yard is smack in the middle of a residential area and LBE condones increasing industrialisation resulting in ever increasing Noise.Which starts every morning, six days a week, at 07:00 am.

If its any comfort, the Goods Yard at Acton Main Line station is doing much better these days. Most pollution in the area is now coming from Horn Lane itself.

It won't start until 2021, so good enough warning. I see there's a poster about it above Harry's Cafe on Horn Lane, opposite the waste transfer yard. Irony anyone?  ;-)

I saw in evening newspaper that this is going ahead.56% ForLots and lots of cameras to go up over next 2 years - and if you have an oldish car (especially diesel) then work out cost v sale soon.
