Was this just a wheeze not thought through or just for somebody's own convenience?  Flank walls aren't going to be the first choice when parking are they because there is more risk but the overflow.  However with increased surveillance...

Are they liars or just incompetent? Have they released the data and analysis for the occupancy? It seems like they would need to add sensors to the bays to get comprehensive usage data, not just Dave from Ealing Council looking out his window and noting a few spaces are vacant. Omnishambles comes to mind.

If revenue is the point of these changes (which let's face it, it is) then the competitive pricing of parking is important. They need to attract enough commuter and holiday parkers to make the change worthwhile. If the spaces are taken up by visitors and tradespeople there will be no revenue boost because this parking was paid for already by visitor vouchers.The next problem comes when enough space is taken to mean that residents are having trouble parking. It would be naive to think that the Council will decide to abandon the scheme at that point because of the negative impact. They will say that the problem is too much demand because of low prices which therefore need to be increased. So not only will we be paying more for permits but for visitor parking too.

Libby its not just LBE Highway's Officers that get things wrong and provide floored information to our Elected Cllrs. You just need to look at LBE Town Planning another department which is not fit for purpose.

I don't suppose they even looked at other relevant car parking charges and saw how ridiculously cheap these charges were.  May be good value for money for commuters, but not good for Ealing Council tax payers who are subsiding them.

I would bet he didn't know how the information was gathered until the FoI revealed it. He was then faced with the choice of sacking the people responsible or doubling down and chose the latter.
