I think the problem with Acton, is it appears to be the Cinderella to Ealing - the poor relative.  Lots is invested into Ealing, but Acton?  There is no point building more and more flats in the area, when you are making parking more and more difficult.  Where are all these new people moving into the area supposed to park all their cars?  Another point is that the high street - if you can call it such - is woeful.  How to entice people to buy into this area - with this glutton of new flats built - when there is a massive issue with parking, and an even bigger with one with no shops.  So if you do manage to entice people to move here - they will still go elsewhere to do their shop, and for many - they want their car.  Churchfield Road aside, the high street is a massive problem - there are simply no shops there of the much needed variety:  shops to buy clothes, shoes, ladies wear, mens wear, childrens wear, gifts (yes, yes, I know about Presentz, but more than that).  No bookshop, no stationers, the closure of a post officed (very needed) and banks, a tiny Boots (need a bigger one with choice, rather than "we can order that in for you" - for dental floss!, the return of Poundland, etc.  I phoned TK Maxx and Primark and H&M, asking if they would consider opening in the area, as there are units large enough, and I was told they would 'never move into that area.'  Why?  And why is Ealing council doing nothing to encourage shops aside from estate agents, bookies, endless food shops, and endless cheap food takeaways etc?  Sorry for the long rant, but really fed up.
