Acton Bid - Another partisan and badly thought out policy from Ealing Council

A pattern seems to be emerging with Ealing Council since the last local election. Their new policies seem to be structured to raise as much money as they can from people who might not have voted for them. If the naked acquisitiveness of the shared bay policy wasn't enough now we have this Acton BID proposal. Acton is totally unsuitable for such a scheme and roping in businesses from industrial estates who will derive no benefit from it is basically a tax on local employment.

Well it would appear the majority of Acton businesses don't agree with you or at least the ones that bothered to vote. The proponents of the BID proposal seem to have made their case that the benefits of the scheme will outweigh the cost.  I do sympathise with the industrial estate businesses who have a point about them having to pay in but not derive much direct benefit and perhaps if a whole area was opposed to the scheme they should let them opt out. The article said full details of the vote would be on the Acton Bid web site but I couldn't find any — they should publish the list of businesses who voted in favour.
