Find these protests against Donald Trump embarrassing, does anyone else feel the same, know we object to a lot of his policies but as a businessman  protests will have no effect on him whatsoever.

Demonstrations in London helped to stop the evil Vietnam War, helped by a Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, who refused to join the Americans so I would have thought similar would help to get rid of Trump.  I demonstrated in Grosvenor Square and if I had been in the UK I would have certainly demonstrated against Trump.  A person of severely arrested development. And remember Hitler was democratically elected.

Think cos he's a little of the rails people fear the worst, must say he worries me sometimes but still think he should be welcome here if invited especially to visit the Queen.  I'm not a Royalist by any means but think she should be respected in her decisions.

Well looking at last night's news, Trump does what he says until he changes his mind and says something completely different.  What's interesting is that the Republican Party and American press made their protests clear about what he said about Russia and he was forced to change his tune. That gives me more hope that we're not destined for WW3. I'm more concerned about the UK - we have a rabble in charge who have no idea what they're doing and an opposition who seem to have buried its head in the sand. Where are the protests over a second referendum which surely would be a mockery of democracy. I think if we're protesting a foreign power we should certainly take our own government to task.

I wish I could dismiss him as a bad joke but I think Trump is taking the World down a very dangerous path. Last nights press conference was surreal then I realised it was not a film but reality. Trump does what he says. He is not any other leader.

The events of the last week on his trip to Nato the UK and Helsinki qualify as really batty, surely. I think he is making the world really dangerous. Putin and trump want to dissolve Europe. Scary times.

If he's promised and not delivered, doesn't that just make him a typical politician? ;-)Yes, he's an ignorant, ignorant, ignorant man but I think the questions that should be being asked is what's wrong with America that they voted him in. Lack of education? The East and West Coasts ignoring the poorer working class middle? As for comparisons with 1930s, I don't agree. It's a completely different situation. Also, the far right has been rising a lot longer than Trump has been around. Blame Farage, rather than Trump.That said, thanks for the input. I'll stick to my views that it's a bit of an overreaction (until he actually does something really nutty, then I'll start panicking along with the panickers!) :-)

Janice - thanks but by not protesting you are condoning his behaviour. I also resent being called rent a mob, or rabble as another poster said earlier. The protesters were a very diverse bunch, representative of the diversity of the UK and certainly not rabble. In fact, in view of the very large number of protesters, it was a very good natured event.

Hi Chris, none of us have said we like it or agree with it but there is a time and a place for everything, if some thought it was the right time o.k but I still think it was poor judgement, and see no reasons there to lynch the man on his visit, respect your views and your right to choose.

There are plenty more examples of where his rhetoric has failed to deliver. But worse - he mocked a person with cerebral palsy. He thinks women can be grabbed by the pussy. He is against social inclusion and is a racist and against women's rights. He is pro the gun lobby despite so many mass shootings since he became President. But maybe the most worrying is that his election has made the far right in Britain and the USA feel confident again - see the marches to free Tommy Robinson last weekend and previously. I am glad so many people matched against Trump both in London, Scotland and around the country - even in my home town of Windsor! He is a dangerous man who need to be stopped in his tracks. Have a read of the events in Germany leading up to the second world war and you can see many disturbing similarities with what is happening now. He stands for a far right, nationalistic and xenophobic movement who want to crush the EU as a political and economic bloc that can defy American dominance. Why else would he have told France to leave the EU and negotiate with the USA? Why would he have told Theresa May not to negotiate with the EU but to sue it? People need to wake up and smell the coffee. The huge anti Trump demos show the power of the opposition, those of us who champion social inclusion, equality and  women's rights. I know which side I'm on.

I am no fan of Trump, but I'm not sure I know what they're protesting about. What has Trump done to make him be compared to the Nazi's and Hitler (who murdered over 6 million people)? He's not president of Britain and as far as I can see he's not harmed our country (or has he? Maybe I've missed something). Yes his internal policies aren't great, yes he has no manners, but there's nothing we can do about that and protesting won't make any difference. It's up to the American people who voted him in. Also, what an amazing publicity stunt/scam that balloon fiasco was. They needed permission to "fly" it... really? It's 10 ft off the floor attached by strings.  From the drama in the news I expected an airship sized blimp. I was thinking ooh maybe we'll see it from Acton :-)

No, no and no.  This was not a "rent-a-mob" nor was it Americans bused in to instigate it.  It was a coalition of people of all ages, countries and religious persuasions who have pride and respect in our country and its history of tolerance and inclusivity, all of which Donald Trump stands against.  In his brief visit he managed to undermine Teresa May and insult the Queen (turning up late, walking in front of her, revealing their private discussion).  Are you really okay with that? This reception is what he gets when he picks a fight with our mayor.This is what he gets when he re-tweets a far right UK hate group and, when rebuked by our Prime Minister, turns on HER.This is what you get when you show no respect for the service and sacrifice of those who died in World War II in the fight against the Nazi creed when you refuse to take a stand against neo-Nazis marching through your streets waving swastikas and chanting anti-Semitic slogans, and then refer to them as "Fine people".  You're okay with that?This is what you get when you show our country, our Mayor, our Prime Minister and even our Queen absolutely no respect.

Hi Philippa, yes I'm aware of the terrible goings on with the children, think He does say things then deny it, don't they all, that becomes the norm eventually and most people who go on about immigrants are immigrants themselves he don't appear much different from any of the others to me.  The treatment of immigrant children is terrible and I strongly object to.  Just felt on his visit to this Country and to visit the Queen was not the right time for it and quite surprised it ever got the go ahead, also think the Trump Baby Blimp detracted from the serious problems they were protesting about.  Doubt it all bothered him in the least but it did bother me and like to show respect to the Queens visitor for her sake and put my own feelings towards him aside.

He was rude about Theresa May when talking to the press and then while his office was busily trying to cover the cracks denied he'd said what was recorded.  And to top that he kept the Queen waiting.  He was not afforded a state visit. His agenda is America First but it is really more like Me First. You need to look at the terrible policies he is party to. It has nothing to do with affairs.No usually I'm much more forgiving and tend to give people too much benefit of the doubt.  Not this President.  Apparently he told Theresa May to sue the EU but she didn't take his advice.  I wonder what advice he is getting in Helsinki.

One of the protesters in Scotland said she wants to do away with these billionaires in positions of authority ? Glad I don't see that on your list Phillippa, very worrying.  Anyhow just wanted to know if anyone else was embarrassed by the protests against DT, on the Chiswick Forum it seems quite a lot were not in favour so it's not me being sensitive (not referring to any protests in the past like when he was voted in etc.) and when invited to visit the Queen don't think protests should be allowed to take place at all, just my opinion.

I couldn't agree more Kim.  This President does not deserve the respect that you might give another President.  The under 5s separated from parents have still not been reunited despite a Federal Judge giving a deadline of 10 July.  There is another deadline for the 5+ children.It is embarrassing because this POTUS is an embarrassment.His parents were both immigrants yet he rants on at immigrants. The London Mayor would be interested to know why he picks on him about knife crime when other major cities have worse knife crime including New York and other countries have had terrorist attacks.He admits molesting females - and there is so much more.    Yes, it was disappointing that the balloon wasn't bigger and it was disappointing that Theresa May invited him in the first place.

The way these protests were done are being slammed down and Trump supporters are out today, was feeling so ashamed of this Countrym, I'mStrongly opposed to the handing of children etc., recently in the U.S but would not want my objection represented by protests organised like that. Also there could be groups out there wanting to sever our tight union with America apparently.

What utter tosh. I saw British people interviewed, from children to a lady in her 80s. And a few brave Americans who were ashamed of their president. Rentamob it was not.My only regret is that the Trump baby blimp wasn't a lot bigger and flown much higher!

Not sure how being a businessman makes him immune from protests. He seems to be remarkably thin-skinned for someone in the public eye and I think he would be upset by any protests. However, he doesn't watch any news channels that is likely to show them and he will probably be unaware that they have taken place. None of his staff will tell him.
