Victoria Cross Memorial paving stone?

This morning I noticed signs everywhere on the North end of Spencer Road, between Shakespeare and Chaucer, saying that the section would be closed off today due to the laying of a Victoria Cross recipient memorial paving stone.  Does anyone know anything about this? I'd not heard of this kind of thing before.

My daughter lives next door so got an invite through the post. I joined her for the service. There were two photographers so hopefully the story and photographs will end up on the front page.
