Morrisons chaos

I appreciate this store has to re-shelve stock but for it to take so long is ridiculous. Cue people going round in circles searching for food as some aisles have not been re-labelled yet.  On top of that they have decided to use two existing checkouts for self service. Have they got rid of staff for this exercise I wonder?Rant over....

The local refurbishment seems to be complete - yesterday everything seemed to be in place and well labelled. And the aisles are much wider. Now if they can just keep it stocked up...

Empty shelves is not just a problem in Acton.  Seems to be a Morrison's wide problem.  In another branch I use, empty shelves is one of the biggest bugbears.  And this entire past week there hasn't been any houmous.

Morrisons does seem in a constant state of terrible chassis...Shame as they have some useful things if you can find them.Am not sure Lidl is the answer to our woes though....

Have reported trolleys on at least five occasions - no, they are apparently not allowed to send a staff member to collect, even if they are just around the corner or up on Horn Lane. Head Office... Once reported, they seem to get collected after a week or 10 days - if they have not been taken for another ride by then... It is their fault/laziness that they do not lock all the trolleys in the safe indoor car park during the night, and we are paying for it as trolleys cost more than £100 to replace.With regards to stock management, I have lost track as to how many times I have complained. They allegedly have no control over deliveries as such and when they arrive. Most restocking is supposed to take place at night, and during the day they do not neccessarily have the staff... The management blames head office all the time, but I am not sure if these guys are to be believed.Roll on Lidl - maybe they will learn some lessons the hard way.

There are two small Morrisons Trolleys abandoned at the bottom of Berrymead Gardens. Don't they lock them indoors when the Store closes at 10pm?

At the weekend I checked some prices online before going to Morrisons and then found that some tickets on the shelves were completely wrong (eg cat food marked instore at £4.88 when the correct price was £4.00 with an offer of two for £7.00). This is the kind of thing, along with the empty shelves etc, that has always been an issue at that branch and the management needs to get on top of it.When I raised the complete lack of full-sized trolleys a member of staff (who seemed to be supervising the new-style checkout system) told me it was due to the nocturnal activities of "the youth of Acton". It was a funny comment at the time, but it's another sign that management needs to take ownership of the business and actually make a success of it, not just wait and hope that things get done.

What infuriates me is how badly the store is stocked, and I am talking about before and after the refurbishment. While the work was going on, I totally accepted the shortages.At any time of the day, you always see empty shelves, but it definitely gets worse in the afternoon/evening because they fail to restock during the day.In addition, products are often out of stock for several days, sometimes even weeks. If you are planning to have a dinner party, you need to start shopping a week in advance in the hope that what is missing during your first shopping round will be back in store a few days later. Very often it is not, and then you have to go to Asda's or the grotty, expensive Sainsbury's in Chiswick just to get the one item that smaller places locally do not sell. A friend of mine lives in Camden and says she has never experienced these problems at her local store. I have been in there two or three times - no empty shelves. Why is it so bad in Acton?

I must say that even when the store was at it's grimmest I have always found the staff helpful and friendly.On my last shop at Morissons I was pretty shocked by the cost of my 4 bags (reusables) of shopping. £130!! even with no meat or alcohol and many items on offer! This is as much as I spend at Waitrose with meat when I shop there (I am not store loyal). They will need to do a lot better than that if they want to compete with Lidl. (my shop there is around £90)

If you’ve got a problem with the staff, talk to their manager rather than whinging about them in a public forum. The majority of the staff have always been helpful to me. I have on occasion had reason to talk to the manager and he was very prompt at dealing with the issue. I worked for many years in a front of house job managing people, if a member of the public came with a valid complaint I alway dealt with it promptly. Without information nothing changes.

Today was the first time I've risked doing a full shop in Morrisons for months. The wider aisles are a huge improvement, the store is better-organised and the range is wider and more appropriate to our area. Some of the old Morrisonitis remains, like tickets with the wrong prices, and a complete lack of full-sized trolleys, but it's a lot better than before.

Flats on the outside car park, leaving the indoor one, where I always park anyway, although that was before I read about the sewage!

What would be the sense in losing the car park to flats?! This would push weekly shoppers to other supermarkets where they can take the car. I cannot see myself dangling 6 bags of shopping on my handlebars! I have been twice to M in recent weeks and even with the building chaos found it an improvement although 2 of the "own brand"  items I tried were so awful I had to throw them away.

Also there are notices apologising for the upheaval.!!  Must admit the queues at the checkouts beggar belief last two weeks.  I cannot fathom out why as there are no more shoppers than usual in the afternoons.

I think that Morrisons are doing the best they can under difficult circumstances. The changes being made are going to benefit the customers in the long run. I understand that there have been very many problems with the sewage system and twice the car park under cover has been flooded with waste. By extending  the store they have saved it from being demolished along side the GPO. Even so the outer car park be turned into flats I hear on the grape vine.

This is a welcome improvement to a store with a very high footfall. As for the length of time of the changeover, I'm not surprised. Having worked on overnight builds myself in spaces that have to open to the public it's a difficult balance of time, safety and organisation. Shops like these often have little storage so it's a struggle to keep deliveries coming in, move stuff out of the way, remove old equipment and bring in the new. I applaud Morrisons for keeping the shop open at a difficult time. I don't think the footfall is likely to decline either with more new builds in the area, whatever appears in the Oaks is likely to mop up the balance.

The new layout is OK but I am annoyed they have removed both the ‘10 items or less’ tills completely, and replaced them with longer self-service tills.  I do not want to use these.

Haha. I ventured in last week and was knocked about by grumpy people who were on their way out. I couldn't find bacon, went all over the place then asked a man at the meat counter who hastily took me to hams in packets,  then somewhere else and then said "Bacon?". "Yes, you know, back, streaky etc" He looked blank (worked on the meat counter!). Eventually HE asked someone else and it turned out that the bacon fridge had broken down.  So I still don't know where I would find bacon.Basically I couldn't find anything I wanted....nor, it seemed, could anyone else.Then I wanted minced pork.  The overhanging signs say Chicken, Beef, Lamb but not Pork.  Is that political I wonder?  The mince was there but hard to find.Despite the wider aisles people were still ramming each other with their trolleys....having gathered momentum in the extra space.I could not wait to get out of there.I now understand why I was so pushed about on the way in.
