Broadband in North Acton
Hello,My house is on the north side of the A40 Western Avenue between numbers 228 and 400 (even numbers only), surrounded by North Acton Cemetery on one side and new-build tower blocks and other developments on all other sides. BT install Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) to all new builds to supply both broadband and telephone sevices, but for us it is Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC). Cadent were careful not to damage existing facilities while working on the gas pipes, but they uncovered numerous horror stories, and I expect that at some time BT will need to replace badly damaged ducting. My FTTC broadband signal drops to barely adequate when the ground is dry, although it is good when the ground is wet. My telephone line was installed in iron conduit that was never buried underground, and much has rusted away. It should be replaced by a buried plastic conduit to BT specifications, and this would be required before FTTP, although I do not know whether this would be done by BT.Are any of my neighbours unhappy with their broadband, and would like to request FTTP? Enough residents would need to request FTTP for it to happen. It would require provision of a double 13 amp socket outlet close to the fibre termination and internal cabling as specified in the OpenReach documents available on-line. The customer is responsible for replacing the supplied backup battery when it eventually dies.
