440 bus route and Ealing Council
It looks as if we have lost this route which I put down to the total lack of support from Ealing Council Officers and elected members. It is considered bad form to criticise officers, but quite honestly the laziness of their response to this forty page consultation, a mere three paragraphs containing the following sentence "LB Ealing generally support most of the proposed changes. We particularly welcome the improvements for north-south orbital links in the Acton…….” warrants a comment of "could do better". These officers are not regular users of this bus service and why should they be, they could however have bothered to ask the users. In this electronic age one email to resident groups and perhaps even Freedom Card holders would have shown how important this service is to local users. The reason for this change of service is for people in Chiswick to access the Elizabeth Line at Acton Mainline for a four trains an hour service after a 25 minute bus ride. For an extra 0.40p they could have a ten minute tube ride to EB where there are 12 trains an hour. The email from the Senior Transport Planner in October said "that there would have been no change to the 440 bus until after December 2020. However, with the recently announced delay to the introduction of Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) Services any bus changes would be further delayed." Pity he didn't check this out before he sent the email.
