https://www.change.org/p/london-borough-of-ealing-protect-jerome-allotments-from-more-overshadowing-due-to-changes-in-consented-regenerationPetition · London Borough of Ealing: Protect Jerome Allotments from more overshadowing due to changes in consented regeneration · Change.orgThe well utilised plots, and thriving community at Jerome Allotment in South Acton are facing a shady future if proposed estate regeneration plans are permitted.Plans will position buildings of between 3 and 15 floors in the direct path of the site's sunlight - making plots of little use for food growing, and rearrange the site as a narrow ribbon with two unnecessary houses built on an area flourishing with wildlife.Whilst there is currently one 15 story block and one 8 story block adjacent to the site, the spacing and alignment of these mean shading is limited to part of only a few plots.The new proposal, (which differs significantly from that given outline consent in 2012 see site plan here - https://jeromeallotment.wixsite.com/communityallotment/save-the-allotment will likely shade most plots for a significant part of the day - if not all of the day in some cases, vastly devaluing the site for both food growing and biodiversity [1] - food won't grow in shade. This impact compromises the long term viability of the site and therefore the needs of the local community, particularly environmental and food-growing educational activities for local children [2]Please support the site by submitting an objection to Ealign Council.Thank youNotes:1.
