Ha Ha, you can bet your bottom dollar that there'll still be plenty of dosh available though for the Ealing Labour Administration to pursue their Propaganda Programme and pet ideologies.Which we ALL pay for.

Not sure where you read the FT article, but you cannot read it online without a subscription. And even when you get in, it is almost impossible to copy and paste elsewhere.

I think the hope is that some of the smaller libraries will move in with other community services and possibly be kept going by volunteers. Meanwhile, how about a campaign against Universal Credit, benefit cuts and other insults to hard up people?

A major concern of library closures is the lack of access to computers and the internet. If you need any form of Universal Credit or PIP payments you have to do it online.

Why aren't you asking where the philanthropists of today are because in the past it was philanthropists who built and/or gave many of the libraries and other buildings for the people?  These buildings without the money for their upkeep or refurbishment have to be sold and surprise surprise once gone they are gone.Who is it that doesn't want to pay enough for their upkeep? And why?

Neverthess since the Referendum these "deluded" voters have not changed their minds in any numbers. Calling them names, liars and racists being the least objectionable,has not brought them round to the Remain viewpoint. If this Referendum had happened during the Blair years, I suspect the result might have been the same.

I would not be at all surprised if Corbyn voted leave. Many voters did too influenced by decades of press vilification of the EU, unrealistic and impossible promises made by leave, and failure to appreciate the adverse repercussions of such a complex subject. It would be equally ridiculous to have a referendum on a complex aspect of brain surgery where the result would kill or cure scores of patients. If this happened and operation after operation was fatal the 'Will of the people' would probably be reversed. I would blame the idiot who initiated the referendum, not the voters.4f

I think we are all worried by Brexit. But to blame it on a bunch of rightwingers seems shortsighted. Plenty others voted Leave, possibly even Jeremy Corbyn. The polls have remained more or less stationary since the Referendum.

Folly and national disaster rather than plot. Cameron has caused division that will last for generations and though he is the villain, his party and it's eurosceptic wing in particular are the cause.

..and what 'pet ideologies' would they be? Emptying our bins? Providing schools? Funding adult social care? Providing homes for people?  When the Tories cut £57million from Ealing's budget, something has to go, but don't blame the council when they're forced to do the Tories dirty work.

As many of you know I campaigned vigorously for Remain but I fail to see why some Remain voters persist in thinking it is all a Tory plot. Do you really think Mr.Corbyn does not favour Leave?

Yep, bring National politics into Local, that's relevant?  Just like "Two Jobs, Two Houses, Secret Council Loan, 'It's the Tory cuts!'" did at the last Local Elections, when he was singlehandedly going to save The NHS. At Council level. :-)  :-)  :-)

We don't pay enough Council Tax to get all the services we would like.  How much money has this Government wasted on a ridiculous and ridiculously divisive referendum called in order to try and heal the rift in the Tory party?
