Councils net £847 Million in parking fines and charges

Local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales are not putting the profits they make from parking back in to improving roads. That just sums up politics in a whole for me at the moment. Replace the words social care for anything else. But I actually think it's worse, I think it's incompetence. It's not that they won't do it, they're incapable of working out how to deal with it so they just worry about keeping votes to keep them/or get them in power as that's the only thing they know how to do.

According to their recent report, in 2017/18, Ealing Council raised £20.95m from on and off-street parking, with the cost of running the service totalling £6.17m. Any surplus can only be spent on transport related projects, such as traffic calming, introducing or extending CPZs, removing street graffiti and investigating blue badge fraud, with £8.44m paying for concessionary fares, including Freedom Passes.

It's never been alright.  It's been dogmatic. It could have been a lot more constructive.  It's a disgrace that adult social care - which should be addressed by all parties - still remains in need of proper funding.
