Ringo no more

I had been enjoying the convenience of the Ringo parking app for a while and not missing the desperate scramble for coins down the back of seats to pay for parking. Without informing us the council switched apps and I found this out when I needed to use the app when parking near South Ealing road. Off course I tried unsuccessfully to down load the new app but it would not recognise my password and when I tried to change the password it would time out before a got the chance. I had to run to the nearest petrol station get cash out of the ATM and buy a bar of chocolate I didn't want to get coins for parking...Once at home I tried again to download the Paybyphone parking app but the damn thing wont recognise my phone number (which I have had for 20 years) and refuses to let me proceed.Looks like it's back to scrambling for coins down the back of seats for me.I will miss Ringo.P.S has anyone else had trouble with the app?

I have downloaded the app at home but had to use a landline number to register as  insisted my mobile was not a valid number ! Go figure. will take it for a practise run by paying for an hours parking when at home to make sure it works before I find myself in a real live situation!

Chris, It does allow you to save a new car number but you have to specifically mark for saving unlike the old app where you had to register the car number first before being then being able to buy parking vouchers!I actually prefer the new system as it avoids saving lots of car and van numbers you will probably never need again! My wife who is the main user of the new app actually prefers it to RINGO as she finds it a lot simpler to use once you have used a few times to know the process .

My only issue is that the Ringo system used to keep all the details of visitors cars. With this app, unless I am doing something wrong, which is quite possible, I have to type in the car registration number every time.

My transition to the new app was seamless, it even picked up my residents visitor parking permit and imported it into the app which has avoided issues with visitors not being able to park. The app isn't as intuitive as the old one but seems to work ok. I was emailed by Ealing Council and told to migrate.

Hi Kim, I assume you're not using the same login as Ringo? You have to set up a whole new profile for the Pay by Phone app, you can't login using your Ringo details.
