Ealing and FTL "Responsive" bus serving trial consulation

Apparently Ealing is one of the most traffic-heavy "outer" boroughs in London and has been chosen for a new  year-long trial of on-demand buses (like Uber shared rides but with minivans), the other area being Sutton.According to the overview website and map, the trial includes virtually all of the borough west of Horn Lane -  the rest of Acton is excluded (bar a possible future extension to North Acton). Yes, it is a shame that there will be no kiss and ride drop off and pick up points outside the station where we used to drop off without stopping the engine it was so quick but would still get tickets from the private parking contractors.It is also going to be difficult to cross the Uxbridge Road walking or trailing suitcases without more attention to the area.

There will be no dropping off for Blue Badge holders at Ealing Broadway station and apart from one stop, all bus stops will be on Haven Green - quite a walk for the elderly and those with physical disabilities.

They have a service like this in Oxford and in other places.  Somebody was telling me about one in Turkey.With an increasing elderly population, an increasing use of bikes and of cycling infrastructure and pressure to reduce our unnecessary and excessive individual use of cars; now is the time to consider alternative transport methods.

Consultation ends 23 August.  This is even more important now that we find that there are to be no drop off and pick up points for private cars at the new Ealing Broadway Station.  Ealing Broadway Station will have accessible step-free platforms but unless you are cycling, able to walk quite a way, or arrive by bus you will be unable to use it.  There are very many people with luggage and or buggies who may want to travel using this station once Crossrail arrives.  In our experience you have to be very very disabled before you are eligible for a Blue Badge ie there are many people who cannot walk a long way and carry their luggage...The LBE Ealing Broadway Station Consultation ends a few days after the TfL Responsive Bus one.  It has been extended to 27 August 2019.https://www.ealing.gov.uk/ebstation
